I wanted to mention my car. While I work close to home and commute by bike, I still love to drive my Subaru WRX. These days, I have been trying to do many hyper-miling techniques to increase my MPG. However, having a turbo-charged sports car is not the most fuel efficient means of transportation. I also need to buy Premium Gas (91 octane or above) because of the turbo. When I bought it new, in 2003, that wasn't an issue. Regular was $1.20 and Premium was $1.30. Now it's a different story. Even though most of the time I try and save gas and coast in neutral, there are times when I treat myself and really let the turbo rip and press me back in the seat as I fly off the line, going from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. Whooo hoooo! The first year I got my car, it came with a membership to the Sports car club of America which holds races all over the place. I entered into a few of them and won several. It was a blast.

Dictionary : )

    subaru impreza black

XX

Wikipedia

I recently received a speeding ticket and decided to get a radar detector to help me out in the future with any more speed traps that I might encounter. Upon much research I decided to go with the Escort 9500i due to it's low false alarm rate and the ability to block known areas which falsely trigger the detector using the detector's GPS capability. Once installed, one soon sees the problem with the cigarette lighter adapter as it hangs over your radio and somewhat obstructs your view. The great part about the Escort is that it uses a standard RJ11 telephone jack for power input; likewise for most Bel radar detectors. Even better, there is easy access to switched power right beside the mirror giving you the possibility of a clean install. The guide below should make your install that much easier as you will not need a Volt meter to see what wire is what.

Tools needed:
- flat-head and Phillips screw driver
- electrical tape
- telephone wire
- sharp knife

Instructions:

take off the plastic light cover from the front dome light assembly by using a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open

unscrew the two screws behind the light bulbs and remove the assembly

find the rear view mirror harness and cut the blue tape to release it

shave off some insulation from the yellow/green (+) and black (-) rear view mirror harness wires

get a telephone cord, cut it, and shave off the insulation from the red (+) and green (-) wire

remove the plastic pin in front of the dome light assembly with a flat-head screw driver to loosen the roof liner

remove fuse #6 from the fuse box just to be safe

run the telephone wire behind the roof liner

wrap the red telephone wire around the yellow/green mirror harness wire and then put some electrical tape over the connection (solder for even a better connection)

wrap the green telephone wire around the black mirror harness wire and then put some electrical tape over the connection (solder for even a better connection)

put fuse #6 back in and test your connections buy turning the key in the ignition

reassemble the dome light and put the plastic pin back in

Following the launch of the Impreza R, RX and RS sedans, Subaru will launch the WRX variant of the popular model at the Sydney motor show next week.

With the current turbocharged WRX hatch gathering attention of a different kind, with some Subaru fans still not satisfied, the sedan could be a step in the right direciton.

Impreza WRX sedan will feature a wide variety of mechanical changes. It will, of course, maintain our standard of five-star crashworthiness ratings for occupant safety and standard electronic stability control.” Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said.

Previous reports have indicated the MY09 versions of the WRX sedan and hatch will have over 190kW of power and an upgraded suspension to properly take on the Lancer Ralliart, which will also be launched the motor show next week.

“New generation Impreza has proved a sales winner since its introduction last year, with sales up 12.5 per cent. This final addition to the range will expand its appeal still further.” Mr Senior said

Pricing and specification details are still unconfirmed but all will be revealed in Sydney on Thursday 9 October.

The new MY09 WRX sedan and hatch will go on sale around December.

If Subaru has upped the power to 190kW as widely expected, would it change your opinion of the car?

The CarAdvice team will be at the Sydney Motor Show to bring you all the details and photos as it happens.

Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Mirage

At one point Mitsubishi had a couple of cars. One was the Lancer, and the other was the Mirage. When they decided to import the Mirage to the United States they named it the Lancer, so when they decided to import the Lancer to the United States they named it the Mirage. Folks see these cool off-road Rally Lancers racing in Europe, so they want one like that! Mitsubishi gives the US car some body styling to look like the Rally cars, that's cool right? ...but the racing Lancers were called Mirages in the US, so the Lancer that you bought way-back-when with the cool wing wasn't really what those race cars were based off of at all. Those cars were actually based off of the Mirage that was sitting in your Mom's driveway. Why do companies reuse product names?

One of my favorite ever cars that I will never get my hands on – although no one else will either

One of my favorite ever cars that I will never get my hands on – although no one else will either - is the Prodrive P2. Most likely, you have never heard of this car. No doubt this is because it was a concept vehicle developed and built by Prodrive in Banbury and Warwick, England. Prodrive is most well known for their involvement in World Rally by being the company that preps the Subaru Impreza rally cars. They also help automakers other than Subaru to upgrade their standard spec cars, notably the Mazda RX-8 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. But the P2 is an entirely different animal. The basic undercarriage is taken directly from a Japanese-spec Impreza STi and then the engine, suspension, differentials, transmission and body get upgrades that really make this vehicle special.

The engine is a 2.0 liter STi unit that receives a power upgrade to produce 345 horsepower. The biggest difference between this and the regular boxer unit is that the P2 has something called anti-lag to keep the turbo spooled up no matter what speed you are running. This helps the car go from 0-60 in less than four seconds and sound like nothing you have ever heard before (look up the test from Top Gear to really hear what this car sounds like). The anti-lag system on the P2 was derived directly from the system that the WRC car uses and allows for the exhaust to emit flames when the user backs off of the power. That alone is enough to allow access to my dream garage. Spitting flames from the back of a car is very sweet to see, especially at night.

The other big improvement over a normal Impreza is that this prototype uses something called Active Torque Dynamics (ATD). What ATD does in a nutshell is it uses center and rear active differentials to split the torque between the front and rear of the car. This helps to eliminate understeer because when understeer rears its ugly head, more torque is sent to the front of the car. If your car starts to oversteer while on power, then the torque goes to the front to balance out the car and keep everything in check. This allows for some crazy high cornering speeds and extremely neutral and predictable handling. This is the safe supercar for everyone.

And while this P2 doesn’t have the big wings, gold wheels and bright color schemes that normal Imprezas are known for, every part of the exterior looks as if it has been sliced out of a single piece of marble with a ginsu blade. There are sharp edges all over that reminds me some of an F-117 Nighthawk airplane. No, it doesn’t look perfect, but it is distinct, and for a two seat coupe, it looks pretty dang good. They have also included LED tail lights and HID front lights to make the car stand out from all the other traffic on the road. The P2 is a stand out vehicle that if produced, would have retailed for about 40,000 British Pounds (essentially $60,000 although it would probably not really cost that much if it ever did come here, which it wouldn’t).

With the exclusivity of being a one-off prototype model that is a test bed for all the best technology that Prodrive has to offer, the P2 never had much of a chance of becoming a production model. If it did though, it would certainly give many supercars a run for their overpriced lives. The P2: not exactly pretty, but purposeful and an overachiever if there ever was one. There are many cars out there like this, but this is the one that could have become a legend if it were to ever be produced. This is why it is in my top 10 list.[gallery]

2. with you
3. Love Story
4. All For Love
5. HOPE
6. Glory of Love
7. READY TO GO!
8. ONE DAY
9. Lovin' U
10. REAL ME
11. ALL I DO
12. Shine
13. Dangerous

READY TO GO! is melody.'s third overall album, and the second to have a CD+DVD release from her. The song Glory of Love is a cover of the song of the same name from the artist Peter Cetera, and the title track of the album was used as the Subaru FORESTER CM song.

The album opens with the second single for this album, Finding My Road. This song was definitely the most synth-based of her a-sides in this era, and her vocals weren't as weak in this one as they were in her first single for the era, mainly because she sings in a lower register. I'm still a fan of this song, and my overall view of it hasn't really changed since I reviewed the single: It's one of melody.'s more enjoyable Dance/Techno songs.

The second song is a new one, entitled with you. It opens simply with melody. singing, before bringing in the synth backing, which has a looping sound to it, and also gives the song a more R&B-based tone. The song is upbeat, with a usual arrangement of an opening minimalist verse. melody.'s vocals fit this song well, as it isn't too overpowering. The bridge that follows actually has an 8-bit sound to it, which is an odd addition, but it doesn't sound out of place overall. The verse has a louder sound to it in comparison, and sounds a lot livelier. This is followed by another chorus of vocals similar to how the song opened, followed by an instrumental section, which is followed by the final chorus. It has a great, happy sound to it, and it sounds like there may even be some brass instruments near the end. It's a brilliant song, and with its position, it allows melody. to show off her range of music to any newcomers before the album really starts.

I say this, because it's followed by the epic ballad, Love Story. I didn't expect much from this single at first (it was the third in the era, ironically), but I was pleasantly surprised. It makes use of a few of the many ballad styles, opening with a minimalistic, emotion-packed opening that showcases melody.'s higher register well. As you should expect, the song slowly adds more of a stable arrangement to the song, with extra synth being added over time, and extra instruments such as the guitar coming in over time. It's a beautiful song overall, and a great way to prove that melody. can sing a good ballad when she wants to.

All For Love follows up this epic ballad, and helps to change the mood after Love Story. It opens with another vocal chorus involving melody. and a few other back-up singers, before being followed by a string arrangement with some R&B synth thrown in, and it sounds great at this stage. The entire arrangement apart from the synth is dropped at this point, and the first verse begins. It keeps the same sound, and the song picks up once again with the re-addition of the strings. The song just gives off a really happy feeling, and it's catchy at the same time. There is another synth-focused vocal chorus afterwards, with the strings taking a backseat here, before shooting back into the usual arrangement. Overall, this is probably the most enjoyable song from this era (So far, at least).

Next up is HOPE. This song brings back the Techno sounds we heard in Finding My Road, but it sounds a lot darker this time, and melody.'s lower vocals help further this element. The arrangement changes slowly over time, with more synth being added after every chorus, with no instruments backing up the arrangement this time. Lines like "I believe in you" and "Believe in yourself" don't seem to suit the sinister sound of this song, but they help add a feeling of hope that the title suggests is in the song. It's an odd mix, and the song has very few changes before fading away at the end, so it isn't great overall, and tends to get a bit boring.

Glory of Love starts out in a very confusing manner. The lowering synth as it opens makes the song sound as if it's going to be dark, but it quickly explodes into an airy arrangement that quickly jumps into a feel-good, happy arrangement that features strings along with the synth. The verses feature a simplified synth arrangement with a guitar playing alongside it, before exploding back into the full arrangement for the chorus. melody.'s vocals sound a bit thin here at times, but they fit the song well enough. The part right after the chorus is just so damn CATCHY, I love it for some reason. The "I am a man who will fight for your honor" line is EXTREMELY odd, but seeing as it's a cover of another song, it isn't as bad as it could be. It's a great song overall, but being a cover by a male artist gives it a few "what the hell" moments, too.

Next up is the title track, READY TO GO!. It's another techno song, and while the opening synth (it sort of sounds like strings, almost) sounds interesting, when she starts ad-libbing and singing afterwards, you can already hear how thin her voice is going to be this time around. The verses have a very minimal synth line that isn't appealing at all, and as I said, melody. has a really thin voice in this song, which doesn't fit it at all. She sounds off-key as she sings the chorus, which doesn't help, and there isn't much improvement throughout the song as it goes on. In fact, apart from a few tone changes in her vocals, it never changes. This is the first song I'd really skip on this album.

ONE DAY opens instantly with an R&B synth line that REALLY reminds me of an older American song. I can't remember the name, but anyway, in this case, melody.'s voice is lower this time, and her voice tends to be a bit hard to distinguish at times, despite the quiet nature of this song. It's a very minimalist song in its arrangement, and melody.'s wavering, thin voice throughout don't help much, but it's not a horrible song.

The first single in this era, and the last to appear in the tracklisting for this album, entitled Lovin' U, follows. It's another R&B song with a faster arrangement to it, but overall it's another that utilizes minimal sounds throughout the song. There is a tone change throughout, but otherwise it's another song that relies on a monotone arrangement. I like this song more than when I reviewed it as a single, but there's definitely better on this album.

REAL ME opens with some eerie synth and what sounds like an electronically distorted violin (!!!) playing over it, before the arrangement comes in, and I love the mysterious feeling the errie backing sounds and violin give it. There's this annoying snapping sound throughout the song that sort of drags it down, but the overall arrangement is really interesting. melody.'s vocals have a few snags throughout the song, but overall, she tends to keep it together and keep from dragging the song down. The mysterious feeling of this song is what really makes it stand out to me, and without the two sounds mentioned at the beginning, it would probably be a lot worse than it is now.

ALL I DO follows this song with a lone piano playing, followed by melody.'s surprisingly deep vocals, and some snapping in the background. Seriously, melody.'s voice is so deep and even nasally in some parts that one might have trouble telling that it was her. I like the overall sound it has though, as it makes her voice sound fuller, and it compliments this quiet song better. It's not exactly a ballad, but it has the melancholic feelings that a ballad can usually carry. Strings eventually join the arrangement, and melody. sings at a much higher register to give the song an epic feeling that fits extremely well. Her voice goes back to normal around this point, but it still fits well. The English lyrics make this song sound really touching, as well, which is always a plus in these songs.

The next song is a bit odd at first. Shine opens with an interesting arrangement to it, with melody. singing at a very fast pace; much faster than she usually does. It fits the faster pace of this song, and she manages to keep her voice steady throughout the verses. The synth carrise a unique sound to it that hasn't been used in the album yet, and everything seems to fit well. I particularly enjoy the lighter feeling this song had after five continuous songs that lack this sound. It's a nice break from the monotony, despite the tracks included in the monotoy not being bad.

The album closes with a song that actually shocked me at first. Dangerous is another Techno song, and it opens with the line "rock with my body", which sounds a lot dirtier than anything on the album has so far. The song has a more mature sound to it, as well, which fits well with a song like this. It's actually a nice change from the rest of the songs, as it's a side of melody. that she hasn't shown us in this era yet. It sounds sort of like something a Western artist would pull off, so while it sounds somewhat out of place, I actually love it more than I expected to.

Album Score
A+

Favorite Tracks (In Order)
1. All For Love
2. ALL I DO
3. Dangerous
4. Shine
5. REAL ME

Wow. I was extremely hesitant about this album, yet it actually turned out to be really good! I actually had a hard time choosing my favorite tracks, too. The singles may not have all been great, but the album shows you enough good songs to make up for it, and it contains a few different sounds that don't all work, but they all help show different genres that melody. can pull off (or at least, attempt to pull off), and as such, there's definitely going to be something that'll catch your interest. It's a lot better than her previous albums, I can tell you that.

Subaru has built the world's first flat four-cylinder diesel for production cars. Europeans have been driving it in the Legacy andOutback since January, and in about a month, after the Paris Auto Show, they'll have it in the new third-gen Forester, too. Americans...well, we'll have to wait, but we could get the boxer-diesel Forester sometime in 2010. If, that is, Subaru gets the message (wink wink) that American buyers are seriously interested.

Yesterday I drove the new Forester 2.0D through the idyllic rural roads of Austria and neighboring Slovenia, and it's an appealing piece indeed. The boxer diesel is essentially an all-new engine, sharing its bore centers with Subaru's 3.0L gas six (to help reduce machining costs) but otherwise made mostly of unique parts. The twin-cam, four-cylinder mill displaces 2.0L, feeds off a common-rail fuel-delivery system, and breathes via 16 valves and a variable-nozzle turbo. Output is 145 hp at 3600 rpm but the engine makes a manly 258 lb-ft of torque at just 1800 rpm (compared with 226 lb-ft for the Forester's 2.0L turbo gas engine).

Subaru notes several advantages to the boxer's design. Most important, the horizontally opposed configuration is naturally balanced, requiring no weight- and friction-increasing counter-rotating shafts for smooth spinning. The engine is extremely compact, thanks to a bore pitch reduced 6mm over the 2.0L gas engine. An aluminum block minimizes weight, while a low-mounted turbocharger helps drop the car's center of gravity. The engine also wears a diesel particulate filter (DPF), a closed silicon-fiber honeycomb that traps particulate matter as it passes through the exhaust.

Mated to the new engine is a new six-speed manual transmission designed especially for the boxer diesel. Subaru currently has no automatic capable of handling the diesel's lofty torque output, and given the relatively low volumes anticipated for the diesel the company isn't inclined to spend big bucks on creating a new one. Expect the manual to be the one and only transmission offering when (if?) the Forester diesel eventually makes its stateside debut.

Official EPA fuel economy figures of course aren't yet available, but in Europe the Forester 2.0D is rated at an amazing 37 mpg city/highway combined. If you're a driver who likes to pour on the miles, here's your rig: With its 16.9-gallon fuel tank, the 2.0D has a range of more than 600 miles. Got a boat or a trailer? No problem. With the tank-like boxer-diesel, the Forester 2.0D can tow up to 4400 lb (compared with just 2400 lb for the gasoline-drinking, turbo 2.5L four in the Forester XT).

You know right away it's a diesel, but the sound from beneath the hood isn't intrusive. Pull away from a stop and in a blink the turbo spools up and you're surging ahead. This isn't a quick car by any means: Subaru claims a 0-to-62-mph time of 10.4 seconds. Instead, think "stout." On an incline, the diesel powers up without fuss or undue shifting. On the autobahn, it hovered along at 90 mph with a refined thrum.

There's a lot to like about this newest Forester. Fuel savings versus even the base 2.5X model's naturally aspirated gas 2.5L four (rated at 20/26 city/highway mpg) is significant. Towing capacity is incredible for such a modestly sized rig. The refinement is there, and so is the Forester's provenoff-road capability. The Subie may not be able to rock-climb like a Land Rover, but it's a genuine SUV-albeit with far more carlike moves than truck-based rivals.

Compared with the gas Forester, the diesel will sticker for roughly 2000 euros ($2800) more in Europe. Given its superior fuel economy and enhanced "greenness" (not to mention that formidable towing prowess), the 2.0D should prove popular indeed across the Atlantic.

Even with the premium Americans currently pay for diesel fuel, the Forester 2.0D makes sense on many levels. The question is, How bad do you want it?

Send your applause Subaru's way. A few whoops and cheers wouldn't hurt, either.

Despite offering the lowest incentives in the industry, the niche brand reported the industry's biggest percentage jump in U.S. new-vehicle sales -- 129,298 units through August, according to Automotive News, some 5.8% better than a year ago.

Sure it’s a long name, and this post is somewhat of a rehash of my second post, but I figured

Sure it's a long name, and this post is somewhat of a rehash of my second post, but I figured that most people didn't read that anyway, so here it is, all updated and made to look pretty. Enjoy.

There should be no doubt that the Subaru Impreza P1 is one of the most sought after cars for a certain type of people. But who are these people? Do they look like you and me? Most of the time. Do they eat with their toes instead of their hands? Possibly, although I’ve never see it. The fact of the matter is that they are people who want the best from their car; the best power, handling, stability, looks and reliability. With the Subaru Impreza P1 they get all that plus the added benefit of having a motorsport pedigree.

The Impreza in its rawest form is not just a car for those who want to get from point A to point B in the most rudimentary of ways. No. The Impreza P1 was designed for those who want to get from A to B by going the way of C, D and maybe K. They go out of their way to find the road that best suits them. Sure, any Impreza can crawl along a highway without much effort, but when it gets into the backroads and off the well-trodden path, it comes to life and becomes so much more than a simple (or very complicated depending on who you are) machine. It becomes something that you can mold around every bend and knead through every straight and switchback. It is, in essence, an extension of you through the metal, to the road.

The Impreza is made to go through all types of weather too. If you live in, say, Southern California where it is sunshiney 112% of the year, it will drive just like any other vehicle. But if you live in a state where it rains and snows and gets muddy, then you owe it to yourself to try out an Impreza when the conditions turn sour. Because of its venerable All Wheel Drive system, the car simply slogs off the worst that is thrown at it. I, personally, have driven through torrential downpours and unbelievable winter snowstorms with blowing sleet and snow drifts, without even the faintest hint that something could be wrong outside. Sure it looked like a whiter, colder version of hell out there, but inside, there were no worries mate. The car takes everything in stride, and then some.

The P1 is just like any other hot Impreza with the difference being that it is a UK only spec car and was designed and upgraded by the geniuses at Prodrive in Banbury, England. They took the best base STi, the Japanese only Type-RA, and imported a few hundred of them to their base in Banbury (the same place the rally cars are prepped). Here, they installed a new suspension, upgraded the interior and fiddled with the engine and exhaust a bit. They also hired a designer by the name of Peter Stevens to design some body add-ons including the front lip and the rear wing. Of course, Mr. Stevens is also responsible for something called a McLaren F1 (whatever that is) so you know that the P1 is in good company. All told, the Impreza P1 is probably just short of being the most sought after classic Impreza after the 22B. Not only will it embarrass some of the most highly powered supercars on the planet in the wet, but it will give them a run for their money in the dry too. This is evident by the high praise that has been placed on this car. just check out any EVO, CAR or Top Gear magazine from the late 90s or early in 2000. This is definitely one of the top 10 best cars in the world, and is most certainly worthy of having a spot in my garage.

There are many great places to go to check in on the Impreza and the community that surrounds it. My favorites are rs25.com, NASIOC.com, and Scoobynet.com. There are also some great vendors out there too. www.StreetBeatCustoms.com is one of the best and carries a wide range of products for the Impreza, no matter what year you have.

American Car Companies are building the best made cars in the world!

Companies like Chrysler LLC. are building cars, trucks, minivans, suv's, and crossover vehicles that have quality that is unsurpassed in the world today. That is why they have a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty! Infact all American car companies have better warranties than their foreign competitors ! Today's car market is very competitive. It is a volume game. There are three American car manufacturers battling against over fifteen foreign names!

What happens when you buy a foreign car in America?

Your foreign car may be assembled in America; but the steel isn't made here, the coal isn't mined here, and the parts are not made here. The back end costs are higher on foreign cars because of this. Insurance rates are typically higher also because all of the parts need to be shipped here. Think about all the jobs that are lost here in America. The company that makes the stamping equipment doesn't sell their wares, costing jobs. The people that make the steel, deliver the steel, stamp the steel, and make the finished products don't have a chance to earn a dime let alone employe Americans. All that money goes overseas too! Then we have to pay interest on this money because we are running a trade deficit. This interest cost prevents our government from providing services to us here in America!

Everyone to a man wants to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, but we each need to do our part each and every day everytime we make a purchase. America is a consumer driven market. Nobody else can change our current state but us! We need to take responsibility for our countries trade deficit. Every dollar not spent on foreign products is a dollar that we don't have to pay interest on, and thus more money that we have to spend on improving our own lives!

Lets call on our Government to pass laws that makes business want to stay in America!

Lets call on our government to pass laws that encourage companies to stay in America! And, lets pass laws that benifit the companies that stay here and pay taxes here!

Just what is a Foreign Car Company in America today?

Just in case you are to young to remember when Nissan was called Datsun; foreign cars are Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Lexus, Infinity, Acura, Volkeswagen, Volvo, Mazda, Mercedes, BMW, Hyuandai, Kia, Mini Cooper, Jaguar, Porche, Bentley, Bolls Royce, Subaru, Audi and more. Just look at what American Companies have to contend with.

I am not knocking foreign car companies. I am knocking the perception that their cars are higher quality and more dependable. Consumer Reports has just let out that they have been giving Toyota an AUTOMATIC RECOMMENDED rating for years without even testing them. It is only now that severe quality issues have surfaced, and they have changed this policy. They ACTUALLY review their cars now! American cars have been getting bad press for no apparent reason for so long that people believe it now. You know, tell a lie long enough and it becomes the truth!

Lets keep American Cars on your list of must see vehicles! Buying American Cars brings Jobs Back To America! Do this by putting American cars back on your list of must see cars, and stop in and look around! Once you see what we have to offer, it will be difficult to see the foreign cars in the same light!

Best regards,
