Si te cuesta descargarlos de las páginas oficiales, puedes intentarlo en Softonic, donde encontrarás este y otro software clasificado por sistema operativo, y luego por distintas categorías y subcategorías. Realmente sencillo. Solo tienes que ir buscando la palabra DESCARGAR, y pan comido. Además cuenta con un campo de búsqueda en el que puedes introducir directamente los nombres de los programas que he dicho.

Instalación y Registro

Una vez descargado todo el sogtware, el siguiente paso es su instalación. Esto es bastante sencillo, ya que los asistentes de instalación lo convierten en un método lineal en el que solo hay que pulsar SIGUIENTE, SIGUIENTE... En fin, que en menos que canta un gallo tendrás instaladas todas las aplicaciones.

Cabe destacar que, para avast! es necesario registrarse y luego introducir el código que se te proporciona. Conviene registrarse siempre que nos lo ofrezcan, en estos programas gratuitos.

Actualización

El siguiente paso, antes de sentirnos seguros, será actualizar todos estos programas. El único que lo hace automáticamente es avast!, eso sí, una vez registrado. Spyware Blaster también dispone de opción Autoupdate, pero para poder activarla será necesario hacer una donación económica. Si puedes permitírtela, es bastante recomendable, ya que evitas tener que estar pendiente.

Veamos como se realiza la actualización en estos programas:

CCleaner

Este programa te avisará, al abrirlo, de si existe una versión nueva del mismo, en cuyo caso te invitará a ir a la página web para descargarla.

Para buscar nuevas actualizaciones, una vez abierto el programa, hay que hacer clic en Comprobar actualizaciones ahora..., situado en la parte inferior derecha de la ventana. Los siguientes pasos, se indicarán de forma sencilla si es necesario actualizar.

SpyBot Search & Destroy

Abrimos el programa.

En la pantalla de bienvenida aparecerá el botón Buscar actualizaciones. También podemos usar el botón que aparece en la columna de la izquierda, que dice: Actualizar.

Una vez hagamos clic en cualquiera de los dos botones, aparecerá una pantalla en la que deberemos seleccionar el servidor en el que queremos buscar. Yo suelo elegirBN FileForum (Global), aunque cualquier otro puede servir. Una vez seleccionado el servidor hacemos clic en Continue (parte inferior izquierda de la ventana, junto a la flecha verde).

En la siguiente ventana, nos aparecerán las actualizaciones disponibles. Por defecto vienen seleccionadas las imprescindibles, aunque si queréis descargarlas todas, no está de más.

Ua vez seleccionadas las que queremos, presionamos en Download, botón central de la parte inferior de la ventana.

Veremos entonces, con una barra de progreso, como van descargándose los paquetes elegidos. Cuando el proceso haya terminado (aparezca un 'tic' blanco sobre un círculo verde junto al nombre de cada paquete), haremos clic en Exit, en la parte inferior de la ventana.

Spyware Blaster

Como ya dije antes, este programa dispone de una función de autoactualización, previo pago. Pero voy a explicar el método manual, verás que es muy sencillo.

Lo primero, como siempre, abrir el programa.

En la columna de la izquierda, al final, podemos ver un botón que dice Updates. Hacemos clic en él.

En el centro de la ventana aparecerá el botón Check for updates, el cuál presionaremos.

A continuación se buscarán y descargarán las actualizaciones pertinentes. En caso de no haberlas, se nos informará también.

Ejecución Ordinaria

Aquí explicaré lo mínimo que se debe saber hacer para que estos programas sirvan de algo.

avast!

Dado que este programa está continuamente protegiendo nuestro equipo (se autoejecuta al iniciar el equipo), no es necesario tocarlo a menudo. Más adelante explico cómo usarlo en caso de infección.

CCleaner

Este programa es óptimo para el mantenimiento regular de Windows, ya que hace una limpieza del registro de windows y de los archivos inútiles que puedan estar en el equipo. Si utilizas mucho el ordenador, instalando y desinstalando cosas, descargando mucho de internet, es recomendable hacer una limpieza con CCleaner regularmente, tal vez cada dos semanas. En caso contrario, una limpieza al mes o cada dos meses, tampoco vendrá mal.

Comenzamos abriendo el programa.

Lo que nos interesa ahora son los botones de la izquierda: Limpiador y Registro.

Con el primero limpiaremos toda la basura que pueda tener nuestro Windows y sus programas. Elegiremos las opciones por defecto si no sabemos qué hacer, tanto en la pestaña Windows, como en la pestaña Programas.

Luego presionaremos en Analizar, situado en la parte de abajo.

Cuando termine el escaneo, presionaremos en Ejecutar el Limpiador, en la parte inferior derecha de la ventana. El programa nos preguntará si estamos seguros de querer seguir, a lo que responderemos Aceptar.

Ahora pasaremos al siguiente botón de la columna de la izquierda: Registro.

En esta ocasión marcaremos todas las opciones. Luego presionaremos en Buscar Problemas.

Cuando termine, seleccionaremos todos los problemas encontrados y presionaremos en Reparar Seleccionados. El programa preguntará: ¿Quiere hacer una copia de seguridad de los cambios del registro? A lo que responderemos SIEMPRE que Sí. Guardaremos la copia como nos irá indicando el programa y luego, en la ventana que aparecerá, presionamos el botón Reparar todas las seleccionadas. Finalmente Aceptar y Cerrar.

SpyBot Search & Destroy

Una vez actualizado el software, como se indicó antes, el siguiente paso es hacer que SpyBot S&D proteja nuestro equpo. Para ello, abriremos el programa y presionaremos el botón de la columna de la izquierda Inmunizar.

Una vez hagamos clic en él, la aplicación comprobara qué puntos están protegidos y cuales no.

Seleccionaremos todas las opciones y presionaremos el botón Immunize, en la parte superior de la ventana, junto a una cruz verde.

Hecho esto, iremos al primer botón de la columna izquierda, Search & Destroy. Una vez allí, presionaremos en Analizar Problemas. Este proceso puede tardar un buen rato. Cuando el escaneo concluya se nos informará de si se han encontrado errores o infecciones de software espía. En este caso, se ofertará la opción de eliminar el software espía o reparar los errores.

En los resultados se indican:

• Entradas rojas: problemas de software espía que deberían ser resueltos para evitar problemas de seguridad o privacidad. Este es el único tipo de problema que está preseleccionado para ser arreglado.
• Entradas negras: son Inconsistencias en el registro. Si no conoce su significado o función, le aconsejaría que no tocara nada o, si lo cree conveniente, visite el foro de apoyo.
• Entradas verdes: Registros de uso. Su borrado no provoca daño alguno en el sistema.

En caso de infección

Estos programas son mucho más efectivos cuando se trabaja en Modo Seguro o Modo a Prueba de Fallos. Por eso, antes de empezar a limpiar, reiniciaremos el equipo y presionaremos F8 repetidas veces hasta que aparezca la lista de opciones de arranque de Windows. Una de esas opciones debe ser este Modo Seguro.

Cuando Windows termine de arrancar, ejecutaremos las aplicaciones en el siguiente orden:

1. CCleaner
2. SpyBot Search & Destroy
3. avast! Home
4. Cleaner (de nuevo)

Luego se reiniciará el equipo y se arrancará en Modo Normal. Si se quiere, puede volver a pasarse el CCleaner, aunque no suele ser necesario.

Para empezar, como siempre, abrimos el programa. Automáticamente se excanearán en busca de virus los archivos de inicio y de registro. Esto puede tardar hasta uno o dos minutos.

En esta misma ventana, junto al dibujo de una llave, aparece la palabra Registro. Es aquí donde tendremos que hacer clic para introducir el código de activación que se obtiene al registrarse (si aún no lo tienes, el propio programa te irá dando las instrucciones para conseguirlo, una vez presiones ese botón).

La interfaz que aparecerá una vez terminado el escaneo rutinario de los archivos de inicio es la de la siguiente imagen.

Seis botones llaman la atención sobre el resto:

• Baúl de virus: donde se almacenan los virus detectados
• Escáner residente (a encerrada en un círculo): donde se indica la sensibilidad del antivirus cuando se ejecuta automáticamente, en segundo plano, para proteger el equipo
• iAvs (Relámpago): para buscar actualizaciones manualmente
• Discos Locales: para escanear todos los discos rígidos en busca de virus
• Medios Extraibles: para escanear CDs, DVDs, lápices USB, etc...
• Selección de Carpetas: para seleccionar los sitios concretos en los que se quiere que actúe avast! durante el escaneo.

Bueno, pues si creemos que nuestro equipo está infectado, analizaremos todos los discos locales. Indicaremos además que queremos que el escáner sea minucioso, desplazando hasta la derecha una barra que aparecerá arriba cuando hayamos presionado en Discos Locales. Marcaremos también la casilla Escanear Archivos.

Una vez esté terminemos de seleccionar estos parámetros, habrá que hacr clic en el botón Comienzo, situado a la izquierda, con forma de triángulo (PLAY). Lo siguiente es esperar, ya que este suele ser un proceso muy, muy lento (los programas de pago suelen ser más rápidos en su escaneo en busca de virus).

Cada vez que avast! encuentre un virus sonará una alarma (si tienes encendidos los altavoces) y se te preguntará qué hacer. Si no lo tienes claro, la opción más recomendable es Enviar al Baúl. Aunque si se da la opción de Reparar, es sin duda la mejor en todos los casos.

avast! Home puede ejecutarse perfectamente, de la forma en que acaba de explicarse, en el Modo Normal de Windows, pero no lo recomoiendo, dado que pierde cierta eficacia ante software perjudicial oculto.

Resumen

Una vez descargados e instalados los cuatro programas, lo primero que hay que hacer es actualizarlos.

Aquellos que no dispongan de actualización automática, deberán ser actualizados manualmente cada semana o cada dos semanas.

CCleaner debe ser ejecutado habitualmente, en funciòn de cuáto se use el PC.

Si se intuye o sabe fehacientemente de las presencia de algún software maligno en el equipo, se inciará Windows en Modo Seguro y se ejecutarán como se ha indicado CCleaner, SpyBot S&D y avast! Home.

I decided to share the previous song after hearing a live set performed by Coldplay last month (sorry for the excess Coldplay posts) when they did their new live rendition of their hit "Yellow". I've managed to get my hands on a recording of it, and you can hear the definite similarities between the two tracks, both managing to convey the same feelings of inspiring, hopeful and happiness in their sound. And both definitely worth checking out.

Best invention ever...

I never thought of myself as the sort to wear earplugs. I am the sentry of our home… I am the one who is always on alert, ears cocked for the slightest sound because the boys are pretty oblivious for the most part…

A couple of months ago we started using a dawning alarm clock (a BioBrite one) and the seller sent me a pack of ear plugs with the clock.
Because we have frequent and sudden foul weather here (and multiple tornadoes in the past couple of weeks) I would only wear one ear plug- in the ear facing “up” (I am a side sleeper) so I could drown out hubby’s snoring and obnoxiously loud breathing and maybe grab some zzzzz’s without being woken up by his nightly cocophany. That worked well as I could still hear enough with the unplugged, yet dampened by my pillow, ear so I could hear boyo through the baby monitor. But then I’d flip over and the breathing/snoring/senile moaning would have me wide awake again…

So I did some research and found The Earplug Superstore. Oh yes. Thank you oh wonderous world wide web!

While they do have excellent descriptions of all of their plugs I figured I’d try a sampling of foam plugs, like the freebies I got with that clock… So I ordered their “softest and smallest” sampler… A huge selection of fascinating colors and earplug marketing strategies… I’m not kidding. I have a pair of NASCAR “sparkplug” earplugs and another pair of Camo Plugs! Craziness!

Anyway, I also decided to try a higher end pair of earplugs…. I ordered the “SleepSoft” plugs made by Alpine. They promise a dampening of ambient noise but still allow one to hear the doorbell and children calling… They have open “ducts” to prevent “pressure” differences and they keep one from feeling cutoff.
Well, they arrived and are a miracle. It was mid afternoon when the package arrived and the grass was being chopped outside…. I went into boy’s room where he was playing music and I put in the plugs and had him speak to me… I could hear him clearly (but slightly dampened/quieter) but I could no longer hear the lawnmower or clothes dryer.
If these weren’t so durable I would have ordered the 6 pack! They are very comfortable and come with a little stick/applicator thingy as they are so flexible that you won’t get a great fit just using your fingers. They do come in a handy slider pack/container for safe and clean storage…
As far as using earplugs for ADD/ADHD, I am planning on using my giant sampler pack on the weekends when hubby is typically in charge of boy while I rush to get everything done and in some sort of order. I am so easily distractible by the slightest sound. One of my ADHD/ADD books recommended using noise cancelling ear phones but ear phones are out in our home as boyo would obsess and freak out if he didn’t get to use them and there goes any peace and quiet… So for now, for a couple of hours on Saturday morning, I will be escaping to my quiet little place to focus and maybe finish something for a change. Obviously, I would not wear earplugs while home alone with the kiddo…No way. Too risky, even if I can still hear him a little bit…Also that would be insanely rude and I try not to roll that way…
Anyway, I’m testing my “portable isolation booth” (ha ha) tomorrow morning…. Hopefully, this will increase my productivity and focus in general, so that I can finish the things that require intense focus, and have more time to spend with the boys…

How To Make Your Own "Green" Plushie Creatures

I started doing plushies for Christmas. I have a shop at www.LilMonsters.etsy.com. I use recycled materials. You can stuff with sweater pieces and then you are not using poly fiber fill. They do make organic cotton fill but it is expensive.
I just taught a week of monster making to kids 9 years old and up. So if they can do it anyone can!

1. Just imagine a monster or animal or person.
2. draw it in a sketch.
3. Make the sketch big as you want you plushie to be
4. simplify it. loose the details.
5. make all the skinny parts really thick because you will need plenty of room to stuff it.
6. cut out your outline like you would a pattern.
7. pin together 2 pieces of recycled (of course) cloth with a safety pin and cut out your pattern.
8. decide which side of your fabric you want to show and pin together in several places. i like safety pins because they don't poke me.
9. if you are using a knitted fabric like a sweater, you can hand stitch sides together using a whip stitch and a strong carpet thread. pull stitches very tightly. Leave a space big enough for your hand to stuff through.
10. other fabric may need to be sewn on a machine to prevent fraying. I am currently working on a series from a 1950's bark cloth and it wants to fray too much when i hand sew. Bummer. i like to take my Lil Green Monsters with me and sew them whenever i have to sit somewhere (church, meetings at work, conferences, the movies).
11. turn your creation inside out.
12. stuff your creature.
13. whip stitch your opening.
14. embellish details, like a face, etc. and Congratulations! you have made a green plushie!

"THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE TRICK. NO SOFTWARE REQUIRED.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

NOTE: this trick only works for broadband users not for dialup. "

If you do not know what CrookeD Box is then let us quickly get you up to speed.

CrookeD Box is essentially a 1UP or a Gamespot but at a more focused level. Reviews, Previews and News stories are what will make up the bulk of our content, with focused columns as well as later media content such as podcasts and live video streams. We want this to be a way for people to get a different, more level perspective, while still being a viable source for information concerning the industry.

Currently we have two editors, Sam (White) the creator and James (Jethro) co-writer. As this continues to evolve we will consider adding more people, as we are always open to applications.

Now, onto why you're here. You may not know it, but you're here for the content and it'll be the thing that hopefully keeps you here. But for now we are unfortunately scarce on that rare ingredient. Si, así es, recuerdan ese maravilloso RPG en los años 90 para Super Nintendo? Pues será lanzado de alguna manera u otra para el Nintendo DS.

En efecto es una gran noticia, probablemente uno de mis RPG’s favoritos de todo el tiempo vuelve a aparecer en la palma de mi mano.

…fue tomada de la revista de videojuegos japonesa Famitsu, en la cual claramente dice algo sobre el juego, se preguntaran: tanto escándalo por eso?, pues vean ESTO.

Reconocen el sonido? Un péndulo y un reloj, en una página de Square-Enix llamada Countdown Site (para los que no saben, el Chrono Trigger original fue creado por Square Soft, compañía que después terminaría uniéndose con Electronic Arts y seria Square EA, mas adelante, gracias al éxito, Square compro la parte de Electronic Arts y le cambiaron el nombre a Square-Enix).

Ahora si prestan atención a la dirección del link verán que es http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ctds/, en su última parte dice CTDS (Chrono Trigger DS si no captaron lo obvio), lo cual nos da la referencia de que será el sitio oficial en un tiempo más.

Y ahí tienen señoras y señores, una gran noticia en verdad, seguiré investigando y los mantendré informados.

EDIT: como ya dijo mi colega Elías en su comentario, Square-Enix oficialmente ya anuncio que saldrá este título en Invierno para todo Norte América.

Square-Enix afirmo que los elementos originales del juego no serán modificados ni eliminados, aunque tendrá cambios como son:
• Un nuevo calabozo (al que se refiere Elías en su comentario supongo).
• Permitirá multiplayer inalámbrico.
• Aprovechara las capacidades táctiles y ambas pantallas del DS.

Más información será liberada el 7 de Julio en el sitio Japonés (no se sabe si también en el Americano), lo tendré aquí, traducido y resumido lo antes posible.
