I started working on a new song last night, and I got this idea.

Why don't I share each version of the song I render and allow others to help me throughout the process? It could be fun to get feedback, and others would be able to see how I work. So I took all the versions I had done so far, and uploaded them.

First time i listen to Yao Si Ting single album is at a music shop in kl..they play all her song while i was reading book..In the meantime,  im very impresive wif her vocal. its soft to hear.. then i interested to know whom the artist & i found out..

After a few days, i search ion the internet for her mp3 songs..but its hard to find the mp3 files..i tried so many times to find..then at last, i had found her mp3 playlist at one of thailand music site. i wonder why?..
hurm, maybe she's from thailand i guess....

i've search a lot about her from google...but its only a few of results came out. If anyone hav her profile or want to share anything about dis singer..please drop a comment.. Thank You.

First off - Leonard Cohen in Bucharest. Surprisingly wonderful; I mean, I knew and loved his songs, but I never expected him to sing so much and to be such a presence on stage. Plus, he's got a great band, and the Webb sisters singing "If it be your will" was an unforgettable moment. And I thought the public was good; from where I was standing if felt like a warm atmosphere (especially with the Happy Birthday and all).

Then, the road to Budapest. Which, in my not-so-well-thought out plan, passed through Targu Mures (there's a plane from there), where I got to spend a few hours - starting with 6 am, when, I now know, it's pitch back and freezing cold outside. And no bars/cafes/McDonalds are open either. But no matter, it was fun; I got to eat cabbage pie in the same place I ate 7 years ago. As weird as it may sound, I loved cabbage pie ;) and the teahouse where a nice lady gave us free tea samples and where I bought my first fortune cookie (apparently I am to make an important discovery and I'll sure let you know when that happens :P ).

But off to Budapest, where I saw my very first (very first in what I am sure will be a long row) Coldplay concert. I'd like to say "amazing", but it doesn't cover it. Brilliant, emotional, dazzling, one of the best concerts I've ever been to....there are no words! The Hungarians are such a great audience, they (we) sang through every single song, Chris Martin was running all over the place, and all the guys were so involved with the public, so in sync...They are definitely a must see band. And I'm glad to see that capricornk felt the same way about the Viena gig ;)

Then came the shopping and home - the home where I used to live until 5 years ago, and where my folks still live. I hadn't been there in quite a while, so it was great seeing my old house and town again (I don't really say it, but I do love them in my own way :D ).

Oh, and speaking of shopping, I did go to the RedBus english bookstore (where the guy selling was listening to Editors, but couldn't pronounce it so he to write it down when I asked :D)...where I was a bit disappointed. They have tons of (cheap) books and most of them are in good condition; but I didn't find much that interested me. Maybe it was a fluke, I'll go again next time I'm there, but I'll keep my hopes in check ;) . I got Terry Pratchett's Wryd Sisters (I'm slowly working my way through the Discworld), Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones (which I'm reading right now, so there might be a post about it soon), a book by P.G. Wodehouse, and an unofficial guide to The West Wing (which is silly, but I'm a fan :D ).

That's it really, now I'm just catching up on all the work. No pictures in the post because I was just too lazy to take any. And I have a video from the Coldplay gig, but it's a crappy quality and it it sends off  a "you had to be there" vibe ;)

I'll post track demos as they come along, although not everything, and once the album is complete I will make it available for download somehow. I hope you're excited!

Lagu ini ngingetin gw waktu kuliah dulu. Gw sukaaaa bgt sama Kavana, krn dia ganteng, jd gw juga suka lagunya :P. Trus ada cowok yang kerja di radio Agri Fm sering kirim lagu ini bwt gw karena di atau gw suka lagu ini.

Sewaktu kuliah, ada cowo yang ngasih kaset waktu gw ultah. Isinya ada lagu ini. Gw seneeng bgt, karena kebetulan gw juga suka sama tu cowo. Lirik lagu2 di dalam kaset itu bikin gw happy, dan lagunya juga emang enak dan gw suka. Tapi ternyata, gw baru tau kalo tu cowo ngasih lagu2 itu karena dia memang suka lagunya, bukan karena ditujukan buat gw... Sedih bgt gw begitu gw tau. Gw kira gw itu lady in my life-nya, ternyata bukan...

Once I was done, I wanted to hear it in stereo, so i chopped the track exactly in half and made a stereo file. This one is particularly enjoyable. I love the random sonic collisions that take place. Sometimes the placement of sounds is so perfect, I wonder if I some how composed it intuitively, but I know that's just not possible.

So, now that i've gone and done this, I feel like I have finally gotten it out of my system, and I don't really need to do it anymore. The funny thing is, that I can't stop recording sounds! I may go back to the loop cassettes and start building a sound catalog, but I can't help thinking I'll wind up back on the same old tape, in exactly the place i left off, continuing the journey.

What? Of course she knows who I am. We've known each other for six months. Why is she asking? "Yes..."

"And you have a CD, don't you? What's it called?" she asked more...

My CD? How does she know about my CD? Ok... We're going somewhere with this... But, I'm not sure where. I've definitely never mentioned my CD to her. Just asked if she'd teach me to play piano. Told her I was a worship leader. Maybe mentioned song writing, but not sure...

"Cray...?" I answered, intrigued. I set down my purse, plopped my book on her piano, and turned to face her squarely - ready for whatever in the world was coming.

"A few years ago, maybe two. December. Someone made me a CD with a song on it. Said they'd asked permission to copy it for me. I listened to the song over and over, then forgot about it until I found it a few days ago. The CD had YOUR name on it. It was one of your songs!"

Ok. This is now strange and neat. I'd just moved to seminary back then. Who in the world had one of my CDs?? How amazing that one of my songs reached her even then. Now, she's my new piano teacher. ok. Here we go!

She explained that the song was about a mom (A Mother's Song). Her mom passed away back that December and the song was given to her (by my old piano teacher) during her grieving process. I listened intently, amazed at the interwoven connection laid out before me, watching the tears well up in her eyes as she spoke about how she listened to it over and over again.

I was floored.

I've been praying about my music lately - well, for like an eternity. Praying that God would open doors and use these songs as He sees fit. Even though I write them as a sort of journal entry of my own heart, I really want them to minister to others in some way. Yes, I write for me, but I also write for you.

Today - today I got a glimpse of how music - my music - touches someone else's soul.

Today I was reminded that even my music can "DO" something.

Doop - Doop

Besides the leaves turning and the temperature dropping, fall always means a tuba recital.  Craig Fuller and I have been playing together since I arrived at UNL in 1995.  Craig is part of the low brass faculty at the School of Music where he teaches euphonium and tuba. I remember the first time we played together--the director at the time sent me an email telling me that Craig was looking for a collaborative pianist and would I please step up to the job.  I remember being annoyed because I didn't want to play for a TUBA player.  I was hoping to collaborate with a visiting bassoon player who had a big reputation coming from an important music school on the east coast.  Alas, I was not given that assignment but instead was told to play with Craig.

Well, that was 14 years ago and Craig and I have played at least one recital every year with few exceptions. We have covered the tuba repertoire as well as many pieces that Craig "borrowed" from other genres.  He has lifted French horn repertoire, voice repertoire (Brahms, Beethoven--An die ferne Geliebte, Schumann, Wagner), oboe music, Bach viola da gamba sonatas--you name it, we have probably either played it or at least considered playing it!  What's amazing about Craig is that when he plays the tuba, it doesn't sound like a tuba.  Well, I guess it always sounds like a tuba but he can play with the speed and accuracy and lightness one would expect from a flute.  This man can even execute trills on the tuba!

After it was done, Craig made a very wise observation.  He said that as much fun as it is for us to perform together, our rehearsals are even more fun.  I have to agree with him.  Our rehearsals are often filled with laughter, gossip and silliness.  And, we have an understanding--Craig always brings the coffee and chocolate.  No rehearsal is complete without these two things.

For the next several weeks, I know I'll keep checking my calendar looking for my rehearsal schedule with Craig only to be disappointed because the fun has come to an end.  Of course, until next year...
