Dennis Dyack debe estar teniendo un mal día. Han comenzado a salir las reviews de Too Human y, exceptuando un par de sitios, no está saliendo muy bien parado. Para que os hagáis una idea, ahora mismo tiene un 67 en Metacritics, que engloba notas desde el 88 de Play.tm hasta el 42 de 1Up. Si bien muchas de los análisis destacan su argumento, en lo jugable el título parece ser que desmerece mucho. Esto conllevaba lo inevitable. Su creador, Dennis Dyack, que se las había dado de gallito en numerosas ocasiones en Neogaf, ha sido expulsado del foro, así que imaginamos que no tendrá que cargar con el rango "Owned by GAF". Las razones que se han esgrimido son, básicamente, el desprecio que ha mostrado por la web, a la que calificó como "el peor foro", aunque bien que se pasó mucho tiempo allí defendiendo su trabajo. Sin embargo, parece ser que esto no ha afectado a los ánimos de Dyack de seguir con la trilogía Too Human, ya que ha afirmado que está comenzando a trabajar en estos títulos. Os dejamos con el mensajito que le ha dejado uno de los moderadores a Dyack en el hilo en que se anunciaba el baneo. Un hilo que está generando un intenso debate interno, por cierto:

What is an appropriate action to take in response to the man who continues to post here? I won't be tolerating a second retconned "social experiment," a second call for NeoGAF's closing, or a second "worst forum" insult. You decided to ignore the option for real terms for your pointless tag bet, so with the majority of reviews condemning your magnum opus to mediocrity I'll claim a suitable prize by telling you to get the hell off NeoGAF.

ETF/CEF Discussion:  RSI picked only one ETF today with a reiteration of yesterday's pick, EWW.  I have modified a couple of criteria.  First I've added the screen of a minimum market cap of $50 million.  That eliminates the funds that are small enough that they might stop trading and are merged into other funds.  Although this is most unlikely, there are more new funds entering the market every week and there might be an overcrowding.  Secondly I have revised the CFK criteria.  Rather than just be a falling fund, the list has been restricted to those funds that have made headway in their recovery.  So we might want to call them Falling Knives on the Road to Recovery (FKRR).  

Okay, let's discuss the ETF picks.  We covered EWW yesterday so lets proceed with the FKRR list above.  The predominant theme is that the Mid-Cap sector is on the road to recovery. So here is the opportunity to buy cheap in a beaten down sector. Of course there is the usual disclaimer that there is no guarantee that these funds will outperform going ahead.  Also some of these issues are thinly traded; XRO traded on a volume of 5,498 today. 

So bottom line for me is that I like PWJ the best of the lot.  It has a better behaved chart pattern and I would look to buy it if it can break through $21.75.  In fact I'm placing it on my watch list and when it attains that criteria I will make a decision to buy or not.

A deep and disturbing rumble grows louder in Wyatt's throat. That one unsightly vein embossed on his forehead pulses. Then it stops. He looks down on the ground, aims at the drain, and spits out a winner. It is probably the only time it gets this quiet around here. And like most self-proclaimed "smart types," Wyatt gets all reflective at the wee hours of the night.

He thinks about today, which is barely three hours old. Today marks Chrissy's seventh birthday, and Pete's death five years ago. Exactly three months ago, Johnny left. And it was two weeks ago when Bobby graced this place with his presence.

"Jesus freaking Christ," Wyatt muttered while shaking his head, and proceeded to process just how many have come and gone. How many ended up having happy endings, and how many were reincarnated into the form of a number, or worse, an asterisk. And like most self-proclaimed "smart-types," he finds an empty corner and lights up a cigarette. He always attempts to blow a smoke ring on every first drag but always fails.

If only his father could look at him now: smoking a filter-free cigarette, smelling like stale gamey piss, and wearing some kind of faux scrubs with a big ol' salsa stain in the front. "It's chipotle," the counter lady sneered. To Wyatt's provincial palette, it tasted more like someone putting out cigarettes into a tomato.

"You ain't one of those smart-types. You might wanna be like ‘em, but you never will be, so quit thinking about going to college, boy."

But it wasn't college that Wyatt desperately wanted at that point in his life. It was sweet escape. He felt like he couldn't survive another day in that bum town, in that bum house, with that bum sadist dad. His soul was as wounded as his back, and even though he knew those slashes on his back would eventually become scars, maybe his soul stood a chance. He yearned for something that could rehabilitate him into a new man. Sadly, college wasn't it.

But this was.

And it had been for the past eleven years.

Past girlfriends have scrunched up their faces when Wyatt tells them that he doesn't have any other career aspirations. But they just didn't understand. Though genes were kind to Wyatt's looks, he wasn't blessed with an expressive disposition. Wyatt couldn't bring up the words to explain to them why he was content and had no interest in screwing it up. Some of these girls stuck with him for a while, thinking working at a city pound is noble. But that novelty wears off, and the once admirable animal-loving boyfriend Wyatt becomes that broke loser ex-boyfriend Wyatt who stepped on the ivory Martha Stewart rug with his shit-stained sneakers.

Wyatt always knew that these self-righteous geese never really cared about him anyways so he never told them The Stories. The Stories-- an ongoing compilation of events he has come into contact with at the pound, each coupled with a strong emotion of his own. Anger: his first encounter with Boo, a passive bulldog puppy whose ears were roughly chopped off with a pair of dull drugstore scissors by a couple of asshole kids. It took five laundry cycles to finally mute that bloodstain on his work shirt into a faded beige. Bittersweet Joy: when crippled old Sesame finally got adopted but with only about a handful of weeks left in her. Sadness: Large breeds who were hastily dropped off at the pound from people who were late to discover their hearts are too small. Pain: Wyatt's first big bite injury. That yappy little thing got away with a cubic inch of Wyatt's thigh. Relief: You know those last-minute touchdowns or split-second three pointers that win the game, go down in history, and make grown men cry? There are those here, too: every successful adoption is a surprise win for the team.

Every one of The Stories is cataloged into Wyatt's head. One would think a guy with a photographic memory would do well at college. Rather using his brain to store tidbits about Foucault or Vonnegut (two guys Wyatt didn't give a fuck about), Wyatt was a walking freak calendar. Every day was an anniversary of something or another from The Stories.

And every night, he celebrates it exactly like this.

In the corner. Smoking a cigarette. Attempting to blow a smoke ring on the first drag.

This is someone's real entertainment center. SEVEN 360s. That's ignoring the DOZENS OF ANIME DOLLS.

Na verdade, é impressionante o trabalho da test tube, nao é por acaso que já é uma das favoritas netlabels mundiais. Que siga sempre assim, fantásticos projectos, excelentes álbuns e acima de tudo, que se mantenha como netlabel, ou seja, oferecendo para download grátis e legal toda esta música. Como se diz aqui " enhorabuena test tube".

Ho avuto il piacere di vedere dal vero l’ultimo lavoro fotografico di Alessandro Cavaliere, alla mostra fotografica collettiva del GAF, presso l’oratorio Don Orione di Milano; mostra di cui avevamo dato nota ormai da qualche tempo.

Che dire, c’è qualcosa di più della nostalgia di un tempo perduto e distante, c’è un monito, c’è un messaggio dotato di senso. Come già negli articoli che abbiamo ospitato, Alessandro ci invita a recuperare l’uso virtuoso delle nostre abilità, delle nostre mani, a non lasciarci annichilire da un mondo dipendente da cibi pre-cucinati e piani pre-disposti. Attraverso l’immagine viene evocata ancora una volta la capacità di trarre soddisfazione anche da piccole - ma libere, indipendenti e genuine - produzioni quotidiane. Eloquente a tal proposito la citazione di John Seymour che Alessandro riporta nel presentare le proprie immagini:

“L'uomo non è nato per essere un animale che fa un lavoro unico. Noi non prosperiamo come parti di una macchina. La natura ci ha creati per fare cose diverse, per avere molte capacità”

Da oggi le immagini della sopracitata mostra, intitolata appropriatamente “Un pomeriggio di pioggia”, sono state inserite da Alessandro nel suo sito e sono visibili qui. Vale la pena di fare un giro e lasciarsi alle immagini e alle parole di Alessandro.
