Ich hatte damals als erstes Mädel in meinem Bekanntenkreis einen Gameboy (mein allererster Freund hatte ihn mir als Abschiedsgeschenk vermacht, als ich in den Sommerferien 2 Monate nach England musste, um meine nicht sehr löbliche Englischnote zu verbessern) - später folgte der NES, dann der Nintendo 64. Heute steht bei uns eine Playstation, ein Nintendo Gamecube und - als Neuerwerbung - ein Nintendo DS herum.

Ich find daddeln toll. Nach wie vor. Zur Zeit spiele ich ganz angestrengt Dragon Quest und Zelda auf dem DS. Ist das nicht nett, nach getaner Arbeit einige Rätsel zu lösen und Monster zu vermöbeln?
Aber das gebe ich natürlich nur hinter vorgehaltener Hand zu. Eigentlich spielen ja auch nur Sohn und Mann damit. ;)

B Rock Band 2. Hmmm where to start? Well besides the songs being perfect and the option to design your character I think that's just about all I can say thats good about it. The hammer-ons are horrible, just about every hammer-on you have to strum. Its not even the tv cause its already been calibrated. Being that the Bass Fender Replica is garbage and it causes you to miss notes. The guitar also gives out too. I didn't buy any of the equipment for this game used even my 360 is brand spanking new. Its just this game is flawed. Tour can get annoying cause they make you play the same songs over and over. One time I end up playing one specific song 4 times in a row. Some of the songs are so boring it makes you not want to play it any more. I am so look forward to GHW2 (Guitar Hero: World Tour) Even though I've looked at their list of song and its just about the same. Being that they're both decided to push the limits of 85+ songs. Being that this is Guitar Hero's first. (That's another thread)

Being also that this game is made by EA (Electronic Arts) that doesn't help much either. Its like it has the asshole-ness (I know that isn't a word) of Guitar Hero when it comes to crazy notes to hit but the quality of the game could of been way better. The base replica fret bar is so damn stiff it cause your arm to get sore if you don't know what you're doing, even when you do know what you're doing. Its a hassle playing bass. At times my boyfriend used Guitar Hero's guitar to relieve the stress with playing with the bass guitar. Yes that is possible at first I was skeptical but the GH'S guitar does better for that game. (No you cannot use RB2's bass guitar for GH because of the solo buttons). It cause the green fret to stay lit without you even pressing it.

Another thing that ticks me off about this game. When you have a list of songs to play and it differs from female lead singer to male. They don't change like they would on Guitar Hero. I hope Guitar Hero don't make that mistake. I mean its wierd seeing lead female/male singers sing the opposite of what they supposed to be singing. Ex: A male singing Paramore - That's What You Get or A female singing Linkin Park - One Step Closer. I guess they became lazy and decided that well no one would notice and they're not going to care, just as long as the game plays well. NOT! I'm a female gamer and find that very off and wrong. If they're going to put out a game at least do it right when it comes to do doing certain things. & The outfits, lets not go there with that. Its like they put an randomizer on the people and the outfits. Its a guy on the game that looks like a straight female but have the body of a man. I almost failed the song cause I couldn't stop looking at him. Well here's the list of songs thats on the game. All 85+ of them...

Just found out about it recently. It's a redesigned DS Lite which will have dual cameras and *I think* multi-touch capability. It was also mentioned somewhere about the usefulness of such features as a language learning tool.

The one downside appears to be the butchering of the GBA slot.. it is no more.

Also, rather sadly, the games may end up being region-locked. Stupid for a portable system.. stupid anyway. What harm are you doing by giving your game a wider audience? (hmm.. rant idea! :D)

It certainly looks like a delicious piece of hardware. Release is slated for April in the US.

Dragon Quest IV opens up with intrepid moustached knight Ragnar McRyan scouting about trying to find a bunch of missing children who’ve been pinched by something that promises to be a bit nefarious. Oh, and everybody here talks with an incredibly thick Scotish dialect. This is wonderful, and it’s the translation which really helps Dragon Quest IV shine. After about an hour the whole scene switches to young princess Tsarvena Elena and her reluctant companions being smack-bang in the middle of the Dragon Quest world’s version of Russia. To mix up convention a bit, she starts her chapter trying desperately to escape from her own castle. Cue another tongue-in-cheek narration. It’s followed by a very distinct Irish dialect, then French. Sure, it all ends up like every other JRPG, and in the fifth chapter you form a ragtag bunch of adventurers and go off and fight the big bad villain. Still, the actual gameplay journey that Dragon Quest IV takes constantly feels rather unique. And good.

Pasear ahora por La Redacción ahora mismo es sinónimo de ir esquivando montones de cajas repletas de material de oficina, armas de fuego norcoreanas y reliquias francoprusianas del Antiguo Régimen. Los montones se apilan formando largos pasillos, curvas imposibles y, en definitiva, un laberínto de embalajes que desafía a toda paciencia.

Camino ahora entre ellos, observando como los monos asilvestrados de la planta 4ª reparten su tiempo entre el onanismo desenfrenado y ordenar los paquetes, formando una cadena que al ser observada parece cuasi hipnótica.

Sigo paseando, mientras espero a que la mudanza acabe y pueda volver a mi cómodo sillón orejero, caipirinha en mano, Spaz en la otra y a mis mundanas divagaciones...

...Es entonces cuando lo veo. Uno de los pasillos se ha colapsado por completo. Alguno de esos chimpancés supraevolucionados ha intentado manosear la colección de revistas tipo-SuperPop que el Señor Amarillo guarda para sus secciones, y ha sufrido las consecuencias de: 1 - Que las revistas estuviesen en las cajas mas bajas y 2- De que la gravedad exista.

Sin embargo, aparte del factor diversión, la muerte prematura del simio ha servido para algo más. De la caja de encima de la que contenía las revistas para quinceañeras se ha desprendido uno de esos informes que nunca me decido a publicar.

Recojo el informe y mientras miro al cadaver de primate reventado saco el movil.

Nintendo DSi

El 2 de Octubre de este año se presentó en el TGS (Tokio Game Show, para los profanos) la última revisión de la portatil de la nunca lo suficientemente ponderada Nintendo.

Después de vendernos una lampara de diseño para el salón, una báscula que no enseña el peso, un trozo de plástico con forma de taladro Bosh y una tonelada de juegos rollo "New Age", la Gran N ataca ahora con un rediseño de su archiconocida y Apple-Styled consola portátil.

Lo primero, las foticos para que la observeis con vuestros propios ojos.

Y ahora, las especificaciones:

• Un 12% más fina que la DS Lite, 12% más óptima para calzar mesas.
• Cámara de 0,3 megapixeles en su interior, para hacerse foticos y que tu cara salga en el juego (¡bieeeeeeeen!)
• Cámara de 3,2 megapixeles (información no confirmada) en el exterior. Esta si puede servir.
• Pantallas de 3,25 pulgadas (las actuales miden 3 pulgadas, por lo que... tres mas dos... por la hipotenusa de pi... menos la derivada de... eeeeem... ¡Ea! ¡Media uña del deo meñique más grandes!)
• Mejores altavoces. (Ahora la última del Ouendan suena a Jimmy Hendrix.)
• El control deslizante de encendido pasa a ser un botón. (En adelante, Panic Button).
• Soporte para reproducir canciones en formato .AAC (¿? ¿why not empeethree?).
• Ranura par tarjetas SD (Para guardar fotos y los nuevos contenidos descargables)
• Se pierde la ranura GBA (La retrocompatibilidad, por lo que se ve, es de pobres).
• Inclusión de una memoria flash en el interior de la consola. (Sniff, sniff, eso huele a actualizaciones de Firmware)
• Navegador de internec integrado (¡Visite su Tuenti anywhere!)
• Creación de Canales específicos para la consola. De momento, confirmados uno para compartir las fotos y otro para bajarse juegos a la SD.
• Tienda online. Muy similar a las de las consolas de sobremesa. Compras puntos con dinero real y los gastas en comprar juegos que se almacenan en la flash de la consola o en la SD.
• Debido a las nuevas funcionalidades, la batería durará menos que en la DS Lite (Alrededor de una hora menos dependiendo de la luminosidad de las pantallas).

¿Por què rediseñar algo que se está vendiendo tan rematadamente bien? Nuestra intrépida Lucy ha salido a la calle dispuesta a averiguarlo:

... i sprzedane! Nippon Ichi dopięło swego. Po wydaniu jednego, naprawdę dobrego tRPGa, kilku spin-offów i niezliczonych ilości bardziej lub mniej zaawansowanych modów (bo i jak nazwać produkt, który korzysta z bliźniaczej oprawy i niekiedy także założeń, opowiadając zupełnie inną historię...?), firma popadła w niemal totalną niemoc twórczą. Świadczy o tym najczęściej w recenzjach ich gier wytykana wada: odtwórczość. RPG-i Nippon Ichi, choć teoretycznie traktują o zupełnie różnych światach, stanowią wieczne odwołanie do produkcji, która w roku 2004 przyniosła im sławę. Teraz jednak, panowie zwyczajnie przelali czarę goryczy...

Pierwsza część (póki co) trylogii w historii gier na stałe zapisała się jako szalenie oryginalny i świeży tRPG, który jednak absolutnie nic nie wniósł do gatunku na stałe. Mimo to, ta prześmiewcza strategia znalazła szerokie grono odbiorców. Historia konfliktu Celestii i Netherworld - dwóch światów odpowiadających biblijnemu Niebu i Piekłu, przez gracza obserwowana z perspektywy „Tego Złego", miała w sobie to coś, czego programistom z NIS zwyczajnie nie udało się już powtórzyć. Opowieść o Laharlu - młodym spadkobiercy tytułu Overlorda, który obudziwszy się z przeszło dwuletniej „drzemki", dowiaduje się o śmierci swojego ojca i w ogarniętej chaosem krainie próbuje zaprowadzić dawny porządek, to niewątpliwie osobliwa, tryskająca humorem baśń. Tu nasuwa się retoryczne pytanie: co zrobić ma producent w sytuacji, gdy jego nowe produkcje coraz to mocniej trącą myszką, a popyt na nie, z roku na rok staje się mniejszy...? Ależ oczywiście - z pomocą przybywa wówczas wysłużona patelnia i zmrożony na kamień kotlecik, możliwe że już nie pierwszej czy nawet drugiej świeżości, ale pierwotnie smakowity. Wystarczy chwilę podgrzać, dla zabicia przykrego posmaku dosypać nieco przypraw i podać w możliwie najdroższej zastawie. Najlepiej w jak najmniej zmienionej formie, ale o innej nazwie - tak, by klient widząc danie w którym zdążył się już rozsmakować, jednocześnie odczuwał ciekawość do tej, pozornie nowej pozycji w menu. Tak właśnie powstały  trzy remake'i: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness na PSP i Rhapsody: The Musical Adventure oraz Disgaea: Prince na DS-a. Pure genius...

Zostawmy jednak Rapsodię w spokoju - choć z pewnością grze do ideału brakuje sporo, to wprowadzone zmiany (chociażby zupełnie nowy system walki) każą wierzyć, iż twórcy przyłożyli się do niej. Pod względem innowacji (w końcu to właśnie one odróżniają remake od portu) znacznie gorzej jest niestety z, paradoksalnie, lepszą „disgeją".

Wieczorki sponsorowane - Wersja na przenośną cegiełkę nie zachwyca. Od strony fabuły niewielkim niuansem jest fakt wprowadzenia krótkiego epizodu z Zettą - overlordem z innej gry NIS (Makai Kingdom: Chronicles of The Sacred Tome), oraz Rozalin i Adell - bohaterami (już nie tak udanej, choć wciąż dobrej) drugiej części sagi. Warto odnotować także obecność ‘Etna Mode' - trybu alternatywnego, w którym rola głównego bohatera przypada dwulicowej służce Laharla. Cała „remake'owość" tego tytułu rozbija się niestety o oprawę, która pozostała kropka w kropkę przeniesiona wprost z wersji na PS2. I o ile trójwymiarowe otoczenie oraz efekty wciąż wyglądają nieźle (choć widać wyraźnie że tekstury to już „secondhandy"), o tyle w przypadku sprite'ów, korzystanie twórców ze swego dotychczasowego dorobku przyniosło zgubny skutek. Owszem - wciąż robią pozytywne wrażenie, jednak trudno nie zwrócić uwagi na ich rozmycie, czy - zaskakująco jak na PSP ubogą kolorystykę. Jako gracz, do grafiki nie przywiązuję przesadnie dużej wagi (u-ha-ha, bo i do czego miał tą wagę w dobie gameboy'a przywiązać handheldowiec...?), mimo to nie lubię, gdy wciska mi się drugi raz to samo w znacznie gorszym wydaniu, tylko dlatego że komuś zabrakło zarówno kilku zer na koncie, jak i inwencji.

Prince Power...? - „Co na konsoli N robi tak hardcore'owy tytuł jak Disgaea?" - zapytacie. Cóż - to samo, co na PSP - trzepie niemałą kasę przy minimalnym wkładzie pracy jego ojców. Tu jednak panuje już prawdziwa „Sodoma w Gomorze" - zmiany względem wcześniejszej wersji na handhelda Sony są śmiesznie małe (najważniejszą jest... umożliwienie odblokowania i zwerbowania kilku nowych postaci), natomiast cięcia w oprawie a/v - olbrzymie. Przy pierwszym kontakcie z Disgaea: Prince, osoby które z pierwowzorem miały już styczność, zapewne poczują się jak w trakcie gry na komórce... Z głośniczków dobiegają żałosne, plumkające covery w midi (ciekawe w jaki cudowny sposób autorom takiego TWEWY udało się wpakować do swej gry prawie 20 kawałków naprawdę dobrej jakości, hm...?), 90% voice actingu gdzieś wyparowało, natomiast sprite'y wyglądają wręcz tragicznie. Jakby tego było mało, gra ma częste-gęste problemy z framerate'em. Marną pociechą jest możliwość niesamowicie topornej obsługi gry za pomocą rysika - wersja na Nintendo DS jest zwyczajnie wybrakowana, a przyczyną jest lenistwo twórców, którzy nie zdecydowali się zoptymalizować kodu, tudzież zafundować grze pojemniejszego nośnika. W efekcie, zwolennicy Nintendo otrzymali niestety grę o jakości wykonania zbliżonej portom komórkowym.

Na peryferiach - Ilość biletów, których „Japońskiej Jedynce" udało się odciąć od sukcesu Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, jest olbrzymia. Mangi, pluszaki czy figurki, to w przypadku japońskich produkcji standard, niewiele jest jednak gier, którym dedykowano anime. Dwanaście odcinków w luźnym ujęciu (momentami aż nazbyt luźnym - dziwi nader często występujący brak zgodności z fabułą oryginału) streszcza historię znaną z rolpleja. Produkcją zajęło się studio Oriental Light and Magic a animacja - podobnie jak w przypadku ich 'Pokemona', jest dosyć prosta i oszczędna. Ścieżka dźwiękowa niemal w całości składa się z utworów znanych z gry, zaś głosu postaciom udzielili aktorzy znani z wydanej na PSP Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. Sam serial do wybitnych z pewnością nie należy, jednak jako płatna reklamówka serii sprawdza się całkiem nieźle. Że niby nie o to powinno w tym chodzić? Cóż, najwyraźniej słupki wykresu twierdzą inaczej...

Sprostowanie - Czytając moje wypociny, można dojść do wniosku, że jestem przeciwny całemu temu hype'owi na Disgaea. Wbrew pozorom, nie uważam jednak tego zjawiska za negatywne - remake'i (czy może raczej porty) pierwszej części, pomimo licznych przejawów lenistwa twórców, wciąż zachowują to, za co głównie pokochano pierwowzór (humor, barwne postaci, KLIMAT), natomiast anime bez wątpienia ucieszy miłośników Netherworld. Chodzi mi głównie o to, że Nippon Ichi, zamiast marnować czas na wałkowanie po raz setny sprawdzonych schematów i rozpamiętywać „jaką tośmy kiedyś wspaniałą grę zrobili", mogłoby naprawdę przyłożyć się do jakiegoś nowego, innowacyjnego RPGa. Fakt - marketingowo, takie posunięcie byłoby znacznie bardziej ryzykowne, jednak według mnie, najwyższy czas zerwać z tą sztuczną polityką asekuracyjną. Bo wraz z nadejściem Disgaea: Prince, naprawdę zwątpiłem, czy tą załogę stać na coś więcej...

I started this review two months ago before I finished the game. I can't believe that it's taken me so long to finish writing it! Hopefully I'll be able to finish all the other half written entries now as I've suddenly found myself with a lot of time on my hands. A mixed blessing I think.

Just taking a few moments before my friend arrives to get some thoughts down. I've spent the morning tidying up because the place is a tip, resisting temptation to pick up this game again. So I've learned three things this morning; I don't like most of my clothes, I have a lot of shoes and I'm completely addicted dedicated to finishing this game.

I bought it last Christmas when I was working every hour under the sun so time was kind of limited. I did get through quite a lot of the game, but as happens quite a lot, I didn't pick it up for ages and then couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing. To ensure that doesn't happen this time, I've written notes on all of the maps :-)

I've got to be honest and confess that I don't know anything about the Zelda games, despite the fact that they seem to have been around for ages. So I was playing this game without a bias, I had nothing to compare it to and no expectations. So unbiased view on little Link is that he's very cute. Although in my infinite wisdom, I decided to call myself 'Smelly' in the game so now Link is called Smelly instead, small things amuse small minds quite obviously.

Basically, you (Link aka Smelly aka [insert your name here]) are looking for your friend who has been kidnapped by the mysterious ghostship. To do this you have to travel around various islands, seeing various people, fighting various foes and collecting sand for the phantom hourglass. The hourglass, or the time in it rather, allows you to wander around a large temple fighting more foes and solving devilishly hard puzzles. But there are some quite epic twists in the plot, that I won't go into, which give the game some more longevity.

You can navigate around using the buttons on the DS, but it is kind of pointless doing so. You'll be using the stylus a lot for writing things on the map, drawing symbols etc so you may as well just use the stylus for everything. Moving around and fighting is made easy with the stylus, plus it's much easier to control the various tools that Link has to use in the game. The only move I never really mastered was the forward roll, always more luck than skill involved for me.

There are various mini games and missions scattered throughout the main game. The shooting gallery makes another appearance (which I'm told has been in other Zelda games) and can be so frustratingly difficult sometimes! Look out for the elusive Dee Ess Island, takes the award for one of the weirdest things I've seen in a game.

Overall, I've found the game engaging to the point where I couldn't put it down and also hugely frustrating when I couldn't solve a puzzle without resorting to using a walkthrough. The graphics are bold and bright, and you can come to care for the characters a reasonable amount. It's definitely a good introduction to the Zelda games for newbies, like myself, but I think that there's things to enjoy for die hard fans. I have no complaints to make, if they made another game for the DS I think that I would definitely buy it.

Also, I'm weirdly excited about the new Animal Crossing game, despite always having a kind of love/hate/bored now relationship with that game. All I need now is a new TV to go with the Wii, as mine has packed in completely now after 10 years. Hmph.
