On sewing businesses. I'm trying to decide what kind of halloween costume I'm making this year. I was thinking of one of Queen Amidala's crazy outfits. I liked the one where Natalie Portman sported a white, beaded headress with 2 yellow orbs on the side. And there was something feathery on top. She wore something much like a kimono. The white headress looked crazy hard, but I think I'd do it just to go to Comic Con dressed like that.. hehe... Crazy Cosplayer. That's me! Eh, but cosplaying is like... for people with an income. As for me, I currently have no money coming in. so.... hm...

There was Oren Ishii, but I would need a gang of Crazy 88's and Gogo. But she would be easy to do, it was hard to see how she did her up-do though.

And lastly, if I made a pierrot costume nobody would no it was a pierrot because I get to be creative with it. Or a harlequin costume. I've done some sketching ideas for this, it's like a hybrid clown almost. I wonder if I can make it exactly, so it's only a rough sketch. I'd like to see the kinds of fabrics that would be good. But usually, I worry about the external parts like a mask, or if I decide to make a crazy looking head gear. How do I do those? I'm always curious about how people make certain things. Where do they get the resources. Who told them? Did they learn how to do it themselves? I'd like to know. People who build things amaze me because I certainly couldn't do that. I'd draw it, but I cannot make it with my own hands most of the time.

Fashion isn't something I'm particularly drawn to as a life long obsession, but it's one of the few hobbies I'd like to get to know. I've always said, if I wasn't so into illustration, I'd jump to fashion. Unfortunately, knitting still deludes me even though I've worked for Michael's.

What I did today:

Haha... suppose to be the beginning of class. XD I'm so bad. I spent the whole day reading a story by Bleeding Air on fictionpress.com. I like her stories a lot a lot because the main character and the love interest is always so fucked up. That's what makes it interesting, but if I saw this in real life, I'd be disgusted with violent people. And she's good with characterizations, I hope she gets published. Maybe I'll buy some of her books.... There's something about reading these kinds of stories that belong to people who don't have a name yet, but do things so well that inspires me. It makes me want to write! It makes me want to draw! But then it goes away. I used to be a frequent goer to read original online stories, first at quizilla (until I got sick of the fucking vamp stories) and the fictionpress has a lot more variety in stories. It was terrible because it was the only way to get my attention away from doing other things. I'm easily addicted. Quite terrible. Even the internet is addicting. It's like I don't know what to do when it's not there. And when it's not there I panic because I don't know what else to do. My life is boring without internet. And I really don't want to think like that. I want to get out of here and live like a total bohemian and like... I can deal with a simple living arrangement. I don't need a big house, I just need a work desk and a drafting table. Somewhere I'll have reachable shelves with supplies and off to the side, I can sleep on a small bed...

This is new house in Murrieta is way too big. My parents currently don't have enough money to fill it up with furnitiure and it feels empty. Truth be told, I feel negative in my room. I feel it as I lay on my high bed, my sister's old full bed, but now there's a padded mattress so it is high. I feel like I'm being watched because of the dark corners of my room. But the thing is, it's the hottest room, or what feels like, so I don't think wary spirits come and go there. Just, not so good vibes. I need to somehow negate that energy. I plan to move my white tiger statue up there. It's silly to think a little figurine I made during figure modeling would make me feel a little secure. I should take a picture and post them. I made all the four animal guardians: the black tortoise, white tiger, azure dragon, and red bird. Did you know that it is a misconception that the Suzaku bird is the same as Pheonix? It's just that they're both red and fiery so they seem alike. But I seem to like dragons ten times more. Maybe because I'm really an earth dragon. ^_^

Well, other than this shit, I should have been checking out my online classes and making my comments and looking at the dvds. But I'm not. Maybe after this, but hell... I'm procrastinating, and it's that feeling that you know but can't help but not do. GUAH! It's like there's an impending doooom..... Hahaha.. Making myself feel like drawing takes up all my focus and my energy. Please feel like attending class....

Ok. Fazer cosplays de Dragon Ball não é fácil. Todos devem saber isso! As tentativas quase sempre resultam em algo desastroso… mas afinal de contas, quem é a velha bronzeada alí a direita? Seja como for é preciso ter coragem para fazer cosplay de Ginyu Toksentai… ou para sair na rua com uma toca de banho verde com dois olhos colados nela. Depende do ponto de vista.

Este é um dos melhores cosplay que já vi. O Goku está espectacular e o Jackie Chung está também muito bom, tirando a barba do Pai Natal.

Aqui está um Goku no estado de Super Sayajin, com as feridas, as roupas rasgadas, mesmo como no decorrer de uma batalha de Dragon Ball Z.

La France est le pays d'Europe où le Manga rencontre le plus grand succès. Etant très admirative des films de Miyazaki, j'ai couru au salon Japan Expo organisé à Villepinte en juillet dernier. Là c'est la folie. Une immense file d'attente avec plein d'ados très fashion. Les uns portent des chapeaux pointus (façon "tortue géniale"), les autres sont déguisées en collégiennes avec jupes plissées et des perruques colorées. Les stands, eux, sont remplis de BD, de DVD de dessins animés japonais, de vêtements et de jeux vidéos en ligne où s'entassent des dizaines de joueurs l'oeil rivé sur l'écran. Bien sûr, j'aime Porco Rosso, Princesse Mononoké et j'adore voir des épisodes de Ranma. Mais de là à m'habiller en japonaise délurée avec des chaussettes rayées, hem hem ! Pourtant cette culture me fascine et je reste béat devant autant de fans qui se sont créés un univers Manga dans leur propre vie. Ils ont l'air de bien s'éclater dans leur passion et c'est le principal.

Other than that, I only have to finalize what it is I will be wearing. Friday, for once, I might not cosplay until the Villains Ball but maybe I'll just run around as a school girl or something. For the ball, I'm doing an original villain character, even though she kind of reminds me of a sorta gothic version of Anthy Himemiya! 0_0 (WOW) Saturday, I'll probably do Movie Anthy (school uniform) and repeat that Sunday. I'm really looking forward to the panels, the concerts and meeting Johnny Yong Bosch again. ^_^ Hopefully, this will be a good con.

Alright, now with con news out of the way, I can give you the latest updates. I've changed the layout and I'm getting ready to change the name of this blog. It's going to be a massive update when I do it (probably next weekend) but I'm sure it'll be for the best. Ha! That was a pretty short update ^^; gomen.

Here's Day 2 of Kumoricon. This part I'll mainly be focusing on the cosplayers that I got to take pictures of. Some were awesome, some were decent, some were alright... then some are just hideous. >_>;

On my first break from the dealer's room, I spotted the "AE86" from Initial D pulling up to the front of the hotel. Takumi Fujiwara posed for a few shots before taking off.

An interesting thing I noticed is that a good majority of the male characters were cosplayed by girls. There were others I wanted to take picutures of like Yoko but I was working at the moment so I couldn't ask TToTT

I lost count of how many Near, L, Naruto and Itachi cosplayers were roaming around but I didn't bother to take any photos of them... I have nothing nice to say >_>. A little deeper and I get to see the guys in drag, random narutards with akatsuki coat and headband, and a lot of fat sailor moon and haruhi... male and female.

During lunch, I took a hike inside Holladay Park across the street to check out what otakus there are up to. Many groups just gathered around for photoshoot and play random games.

I don't know who they are but that hammer looked really heavy... probably not.

I attended like the first ten minutes of the cosplay contest then have to leave to go back to work so I wasn't able to grab many photos...

Gaara was the best from what I saw. The two "prince-cess" are traps and the pirate monster...looked very uncomfortable with all those tentacles ^^;. My photos sux here because I came late and had to sit all the way in the back.

¿Todas las personas podemos hacer cosplay?

Desde luego que sí, aunque tengo que admitirlo, el Crossplay.. de hombres vistiendo como personajes de mujeres no se ve muy bonito que digamos.

¿Es barato hacer/comprar  un cosplay?

Depende de los materiales y accesorios en los que inviertas, puedes comprar accesorios por separado o diseñarlos tú mismo; la otra vez platicaba con una conocida que le gusta el cosplay, cual era el cosplay más caro que se haya hecho y me dijo que a lo mucho invertía como 300 pesos en los materiales (aunque la mano de obra de confección la puso ella, así que por ello podría decirse que le salió algo barato) mientras que si lo mandas a hacer con una costurera la verdad, los precios varían.

mientras que los cosplays que se venden, a veces son algo caros debido a que ya están hechos y puedes correr con la mala suerte de que no esté hecho a tu medida, no busques incomodidad, mejor mándalo a hacer.

¿En qué moldes puedo basarme para la realización de un cosplay?

mmm, esta pregunta es difícil, lo más común es comprar una figurita del personaje en cuestión, estas figuritas son tu maniquí ya que puedes ver los detalles de la ropa que llevan para hacer tu disfraz. en cuestiones de personajes de videojuegos puedes conseguir los artbooks originales en internet donde vengan en distintas posturas, de no ser así, tendrás que fotografiarlos desde el videojuego en diferentes tomas.

Y por último.. ¿Qué ventajas puede traer llevar cosplay a una convención?

mmm, desde la oportunidad de participar en el concurso de cosplay (que por cierto los ganadores se llevan una buena suma de dinero por ello), que te cobren la mitad o entres gratis a la convención (aunque esta condición tiene restricciones, tiene que ser un cosplay completo y elaborado).

En fin con esto termino el artículo respecto al cosplay del día de hoy, no sin antes dejarles unas imágenes de cosplay.

This time it'll be at Sunway Piramid Convention Hall from 20-21 December. I guess it's time to start planning my costume! I know some people are keeping their costumes a secret but I can't really keep mine. I need some opinions I guess. Haha. So far I am quite adamant about doing Shinku, although I know some might be bored of her character already, but I have to make sure I do it well enough to make a difference. Call me kiasu but of course I would like to look better! Hehe.

So far, I guess my biggest issue would be the wig and the shoes. And Kun-Kun of course. I plan to do lots of props, I hope I can make them on time! LOL. I hope I can manage everything... So much pressure! Haha. Although it seems a long time from now but preparing props is quite time consuming. Even the material of the costume; I still trying to figure which will look the best and the closest to the character. I think I've watched Rozen Maiden like super lots of times, just so I can study her character. Haha. Ok.. I think I am getting to otaku-ish already. LOL.

Após uma olhadinha num blog interessante, mas coisa de nerd, vi a sugestão de ver "The Big Bang Theory", uma serie MEGA nerd. A história começa no dia em que dois nerds conhecem sua vizinha (uma mulher de inteligencia normal e muito bonita), um deles fica fascinado por ela e assim vai... É uma comédia que realmente mostra o que é ser nerd (no grau maximo): eles são físicos, fazem cosplay, jogam video game, vivem online e outras coisas que só vendo. Alodia Almira Arraiza Gosiengfiao (born March 9, 1988 in Quezon City, Philippines) is a very well-known Filipino cosplayer and model. She is of Filipino, Chinese and Spanish descent. After the generic information, lemme have my own way of introducing her :D I won't mention what is already posted above. That would otherwise be termed cyclic redundancy. LOL

I saw her in person lots of times before. I can't fully trust my opinion if I said she was nice since I often JUST SEE her, not really a casual way of knowing a person inside-out. I guess basing it on lots of people's comments and stuff...she's pretty nice. Unless you posted the way this thread's thread starter wanted you to post and the way their symbol of purpose wants you to be, you might also think she's nice based on what you read about her. She's the first cosplayer that I actually loved...to see each time she's in an event. She recently went as a judge on previous cosplay events in the Philippines NOT BECAUSE SHE WOULD BE GUARANTEED A WIN but because she's a celebrity here now...well not "ACTRESS" celebrity but a celebrity nonetheless. She is actually a meme in 4chan's /cgl but she's no reigning goddess there as much as she is in our country. The insult "FAILodia" is the word they remember whenever her name and/or picture is posted there. Despite that, she feels that little insults and arguments over the internet are pretty much wasted bandwidth and time so she just ignores them at most.

Her art, photography are often praised as above average. In which case, some of her art have been stolen before and used for commercial purposes. One such incident was the famous Earth Day Jam 2008 which was held here in the Philippines last april 25th 2008. The company tried to make peace with the infringement by apologizing and reasoning out that they had no idea where the pictures were coming from. They also prepared to give them (Alodia and her family) free VIP tickets and Backstage passes for the said event. Read the comments given by friends and family alike here even Alodia and her Mom had to clear things up a bit. Her explanation of the story the way she heard and saw it here

She has also been a victim of a few hacking incidents, which up until now the culprit/s remain unknown (I may have a clue though...which I won't tell since the story is long forgotten and deserves to be so until another one resurfaces)

As you can see, fame comes with a price. Despite this, she continues to just move on and let go of the things that happened in the past and just remain strong and ever bold in the face of such troubles in life. Last time I saw her, she pretty much looked happy as ever, or even happier. I guess she grew much more mature after the said incidents.

Did I mention she likes collecting figurines from famous artists? no? well I just wrote it so don't fess! LOL. Unlike her, I never really liked collecting figurines. She often likes collecting figurines based on games or art magazines done by famous artists such as Shunya Yamashita an easy google of his name should tell you who and what he is famous for.

She is also a known video gamer. From PC to PS3. I'm not surprised on this part though. Most new artists get inspiration from games these days, if not then the game's artists. Like me, she is also a fan of SQUARE-ENIX's Final Fantasy series. She is also known to play fighting games such as the ever legendary game series TEKKEN. She is fond of playing the said game on her PSP awhile back. Last I checked, she was a Lord of War

As famous as she is, she also got invited to be part of a few TV Shows (a few of her recent tv appearances can be found here, here, and here , and a Music video as mentioned above. One of her MOST DIE HARD FAN out there was able to give the screenshot for her 1,000,000th pageviews and won the prize she put up. The guy's name in the net is tsukurimashou. I think I've seen him before. If I was right based on instinct, he's bald(?) or semi-bald at least. When I first saw him bidding for her doll I automatically assumed that this guy's both EFFING RICH and an AWFULLY NICE guy. I kinda imagined what he looks like...and lets just hope that he's the bald semi-muscular guy I saw since the one I imagined was pretty much not as "nice" looking as the bald one LOL.

Another fan, and maybe family friend to be noted, is Mike Abundo He is a well known professional through out the internet both locally and internationally (i think) He has this issue before involving alodia's pictures on the FHM site (A local adult magazine). I am not entirely sure if its on the site OR on the very magazine but this sure sparked some hatred. Not to mention the very scandal he faced regarding a local website name based on Filipino cosplayers. I've got into a casual conversation with him before. He is...well nice in my terms of nice for a person I just met not more than 4 times. He's pretty much laid back now and just doing his job. Alodia and her family has made their peace with him regarding the FHM issue but regarding the website name scandal...the Filipino cosplay world may not forgive him all the way until they eventually forget about it.

She is often linked with Mark Gosingtian though noone would DARE post it since it often gets deleted since alodia hates it when things that are " not true" are posted, specially on her very own sites. IMHO (sorry if she or her friends are reading this) I really THINK (emphasis on the conditional and unconfirmed word THINK) that they got something going on there. Just browse through her photoshoot galleries and journals and that should make you as suspicious :D

She has MANY fans not only in our country but from abroad as well. Most fans here are Japaholics. Japaholics in our country means someone who has a CRAVING for japanese style, food, art, clothing, shows, music, videos, movies, and of course, animation. Most fans from abroad may not be well known Japaholics but share the same interests Ms. Gosiengfiao has. Most of those fans from abroad are fellow "deviants" who found out about her THROUGH HER GALLERIES, not on TV, or any other international cosplay website.

These and all the other reasons out there just shows how she earned her respect as a deviant artist and the title
