I've been waiting for his call, for his messages. It's been Saturday when he did, and it's already another Saturday. Well, it is Saturday morning, it's only 7:40am. morning, but morning will turn to noon, the noon then to dusk, then it's night again. and i know, still he wouldn't care. he doesn't care. he used to care about me. that's why i like him, that's why i love him. i told him i love him. i told him to react, he didn't. that was a long time ago. he called after two months. he didn't say anything about it that i had to bring it up again. it was a serious thing to talk about. love is a serious thing. and he hates serious stuff. i hated it too but i love him so i had to be serious. he should be too. but since he hates it, the serious became a joke. and we ended there, we ended where we had actually started..jokin around. foolin and bummin and laughin out loud till we drop and still joke about the most nonsensical people. now i'm the one who's nonsensical, so he turns it into a joke..turns me into a joke.

i kept waiting for one message. a message that will never come. i know it won't come. i won't receive anything so i'm not gonna send anything to him either. i think its the right thing to do. coz only i get to do the things that men should do. so i wonder whether he's really the man or i am. maybe i am, that's why he doesn't like me. coz i dont wear skirt or sexy tops or make up. i'm no dyke. if i was dyke, i'd like girls. i don't. i'm tough and bitchy and i do what i want to do and the things i do always shock people and shut them up. like the way he shut up when i said i love you.

now it's summer and it's almost at its end. the piercing heat and freezing coldness will meet again. they always meet and chase each other. we were like that once. that's why i envy summer and rain. but just like them too, summer loses the battle and rain begins to pour. He is rain, I am Summer and i am losing my battle now. he's gonna pour down hard and strong and he's not alone. tears of the rain come in millions, and when they pour, he's gonna be with other raindrops. he's gonna fall into the ground. he's gonna fall with another raindrop and kiss the earth and in the cycle they will both turn into clouds and pour down again together. while Summer will return into the picture and be remembered a year after. sigh

Creator Alex Sirota (aka iosart) describes Flickriver as "a new way to explore and view Flickr photographs... The photographs are always displayed as one continuous stream - you can view thousands of photos without ever needing to hit 'next' and waiting for the next page to load! This is also known as "infinite scroll."

It's a neat concept, and is just as cool as it sounds. As long as you take a second to actually look at each image, you can scroll for hours (or minutes, depending on your attention span!) before you get bored. Simply click the image to view the artist's Flickr album. Here are a few beautiful photos I have run across in just my first 5 minutes:

I know I'm not the only one who has been through this. I know one day I will be happy. I know that one day I will meet someone and fall in love. I know.

But until that happens I must say that this is the hardest thing I've had to deal with in my 32 years that I can remember. It really has no instruction manual. You have to feel the pain off loss...like a death. You have to cope. You have to "get out there" as I'm told over and over.

There will be other hurting I think. Other painful moments. Other mountains to climb. I don't see this as an easy path forward...a yellow brick road. I see it as a challenge that I have no other choice but to take. I must keep moving because that is me. I'm no quitter. I hit stumbling blocks along the way that set me back a little but I get up, dust myself off, and then trudge forward. I never really give up (even when I'm in a situation where I really should give up and let go...I still keep trying). Thank goodness I'm no quitter! Ha..

It's just a hard thing to get used to. A lonely exsistence in the darkness of the night. I have a hard time with those moments. I have a hard time going upstairs to bed every night. My bed is huge and I share with my dog. Thank god for him. If I was completely alone without another living soul I might have gone nuts. And thank god for my friendships. They are the only thing I have that keeps me sane.

Ten years is a long time to have a companion and then *POOF* they disappear right before your eyes. Like a death...I'm in mourning for companionship I no longer have. I'm trying to see the silver lining in the clouds...but right now I don't see any clouds in the sky.

I'm trying not to make mistakes with "other" guys because I feel lonely. I'm trying to think through my decisions. Sometimes I slip but we all do it. We all make silly decisions because we're lonely but I'm slowly realizing it. I'm slowly seeing that when you want things to be a certain way so you ignore the obvious signs that it's just not right for you. *sigh* It's hard to do the right thing. It takes time to learn how to deal. It takes a lot to be stong and NOT give into emotions.

Life is hard. But no one said it would be easy. It seems that it's mostly a struggle and I'm just kinda tired. I need a life nap.

It never fails, I get out all the things I need to sit comfortably in my window seat on the plane, u

It never fails, I get out all the things I need to sit comfortably in my window seat on the plane, usually in seat 22 if I get to choose, and then once my seat-belt is fastened and my seat neighbors are comfy, I remember I wanted to have my camera, but it is too late, my camera is packed safely in my bag that is over our heads and far to inconvenient to get... so I try to remember to remember that next time I fly, I want to have my camera.

Because I love looking at the world from a plane and think it would be fun start my own plane photo collection.

So this time, on my way back to SFO from my connecting flight in ATL... I remembered... and I got my Rolleiflex out ahead of time with an extra roll of film. I was very proud of myself... and ready to take off and snap away.

As we were just about to take off the piolot came on and welcomed us, and said it was a beautiful day for a plane ride.

I perched high in my seat with my big clunky camera perched in the window, ready...

We started rolling, then we lifted, then there was a very loud bang, although bang doesn't describe it well, but there was a very very loud bad noise and then we wobbled and went back down to the runway, then wobbled on the runway with flames and smoke coming off my wing on the left side.

The we stopped and were surrounded by lots of firetrucks.

An engine blew up we were told first, then it was "Mechanical failure."

And after the firetrucks gave us the ok, we hobbled back to the gate and got off to wait for our next plane.

I was surprised how quickly they had us back on another plane, but somehow, I wasn't quite as excited this time... I have to say the experience definitely stirred my nerves and was a good reminder that life is short and not to be taken for granted.

I've felt like my head has been stuck in a gargantuan gray cloud the last few days. Strangely enough the weather has been very gray, gloomy, dreary, & dark since Tuesday morning. I love summer rainstorms when you can stay inside reading books & watching movies all afternoon, but I am not a fan of gloom and doom when I have things to accomplish and places to be! My mood & even my health seem to be affected negatively by dark days. Today, I was rather sluggish, had a KILLER headache & felt kind of glum.

I need a little sunshine in my life! [without the gray days, we would never enjoy the glorious ones as much as we do!]

Look up. Look up. Cloud lovers and self-help gurus tell us.

"See" your future first, then take practical steps to make it your present.

But, what if clouds are in the way of "seeing" your future?

Whaddaya do about big ol' banks of puffy, thunder clouds gettin' in the way of your friggin' future, self-help smartypantaloons?

You know what I do?

I look down.

(Although, no finer example of why one should look up to the sky when you are walking along is on Razzbuffnik's site today. Seriously, are clouds and sky in Australia different from this hemisphere or is it that they have better photographers??)

Anyway, I am a looking down sort of girl. Can't help it. I did a series on asphalt art a while back. The result of walking in parking lots in an industrial park near my house and noticing the patterns in the asphalt.

Recently, it's been time spent looking at manhole covers. This one is my favorite so far.

Is there anyone out there I can cajole into going around their neighborhood and taking photos of their manhole covers?

I'd like to see if there is a world wide problem with manhole cover design or whether it's just in my neck of the woods.

Because, In general, I'm finding they are not exactly inspiring surfaces. I am surprised quite frankly that they haven't been "branded" for commercial purposes. The John McCain Real But Old Man Hole Cover. Or, the Hilary 18 Million Men but Mostly White Women Man Hole Cover. (Sorry, politics is on my mind). Think about it, we all see manhole covers in the course of the day but in their present state, we don't pay much attention.

But, throw a swatch of color here or there or an unusual pattern? Hey, we could fight childhood obesity by having vegetables carved into manhole covers! Just a thought, people. Lookin' Down people have imaginations, too, you know. It's just not those cloudy puffy people.

Anyway, I think if we started a campaign to put imaginations to work on manhole covers, we'd become a universe of looking down people.

No offense to cloud people, but, c'mon, you've had us captivated since the dawn of man with your puffiness.

It's time for the "Lookin' Down" people to rise up! Oh, er. Sorry, rise down!

Who'll post the first manhole cover in response to this challenge?

Anyone?

A simple manhole cover from your neighborhood to start the bidding?

Going once....

Twice....

WORD TO WISE:

No self help gurus can join the "Looking Down, The Series" cuz I know you are going to try to get us to look up. Nothing doing. You've been around since the dawn of man, too, and the world's in a total mess so it's time to give the looking down people their fair chance to mess things up.

Fair's Fair. Or, let me look out the window.

Fair to partly cloudy.

The proof copies of With His Head In The Clouds have just arrived.

They haven't been bound correctly, they've not got the correct cover, but they are here...

It wasn't easy handing them out. Apart from myself, and The Bear (and he has never read it in one go, or in the right order) it'll be the first time it has ever been read. Which is quite, quite, nerve racking.

So far I've handed out four copies. To; an experienced proof reader, a fantasticly honest genius, a comic guru, and the legend that is The Bear.

Not really a post to be proud of but hey.

I haven't run, just been out on the motorbike every day and caught up on all the jobs around the house I seem unable to get around to in a normal week.

Cathy seems rather ill, I hope it won't stop her walking up the mountains. I'll get a gauge on how bad she is tonight but the trip to Scotland won't be happening if she isn't going to make it - i'm not spending 15 hours (combined there and on to Scafell) out of 36 in a car to go for a walk on my own, that's most of the reason I haven't got round to it in my previous 37 years. But now i've got this far, I somehow really want to do all 3. If I was running or cycling, it might feel different owing to the special challenge but to look forward to 3 long walks (possibly in the rain...joy) is certainly a change of direction.

So today will consist of gardening, packing and wondering what i've forgotten to pack. Probably allsorts, but hey.

150 cars, no rain (but shitloads of stratus style cloud cover, so no skydiving either. Bah.)

Maybe it was because I was listening to classical music on the way home tonight...and my mind was already n that frame...but as I pulled into the driveway, I was met by clouds that look like the hands of a conductor...I tried layering on a row of piano keys, but the image looked too corny to me and the natural image says more in the end without saying too much...

Thanks for visiting...
