9/22 Cafe Brasil (Culver City, Los Angeles, CA)
Brazilian. this colorful and casual cafe+motel combo will put a smile on anyone's face when they walk in. the menu seems pretty reasonable.

Brahma beer - J said it reminds him of Corona
Golly Guarana - pretty good stuff. I tend to get this at Brazilian places. I should try other Brazilian favorites next time.

We shared the Churrasco: Brazilian Style Lamb Chops. Tender and delicious.

We also tried the little pastries:
*Risoli: Turnover - Shaped Crust prepared with buttermilk flour stuffed with Beef and lightly deep fried.
*Coxinha Chicken Leg - Shaped Delicacy consisting of shredded chicken and cheese in a breaded dough and lightly deep fried.
*Pao de Queijo - Cheese Bread Biscuit - shaped cheese bread made with yucca root flour and cheese.

My favorite was the cheese bread. The others remind me of dim sum. With all the people with Chinese descent in Brazil, I wouldn't be surprised if these pastries have Asian influences.

Pao and the chinese "bao" for buns are pretty similar...coincidence?

Coxinha

Pao de Queijo

risoli

I would definitely eat here again.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-brasil-los-angeles#hrid:QVJiA9yVY8CIEbIKjlzvaQ

Sinbala (Arcadia, CA)
Taiwanese/Sausage. passed by this place a few times and finally tried it. if you like taiwanese sausage, then this is your place. They have an extensive list of sausage with different toppings. I wanted to try the weird stuff like chocolate, kiwi, wasabi, but ended up with Sate sauce (sa-cha sauce). not a fan of sa-cha sauce.

I would be back to try the different toppings on the sausages.

#1 Sinbala Sausage Rice comes with rice, veggie medley, cabbage and some stir-fried scrambled eggs. Cheap and delicious

#2 Fried Pork Chop Rice. Also cheap and delicious

I'm a fan of the Chicken Nuggets. Tastier than KFC's Popcorn Chicken.

i'm not that fond of Taiwanese shaved ice, but got an order with lychee, pineapple, coconut jelly, condensed milk, almond tofu with the sugar cane syrup ("tang shui") on the side. Taro balls may sound odd, but chewy gems unknown to non-asians.

Pretty good place to stop by again

Tropicalia Brazilian Grill (Silverlake, Los Angeles, CA)
Brazilian. came here with my coworkers. 3 indian exchange coworkers wanted to try brazilian so my buddy and i took them. a table of 5 was a little harder to fit in the small space but we were fine.

we had sangria, and between V and me, we had a Chicken Tropicalia and a Bife Tropicalia - Molhado. We had a hard time deciding which tasted better, so do the same with someone you don't mind sharing food with.

Next time instead of sangria, i'll try a glass of wine, or save it for the wine bar next door!

two things i learned about indians (from india) are: they use their knives on their left even though they're right-handed. and none of them like plantains.

Gut-busting Brazilian Barbecue

My only advice before getting into the food - arrive prepared to eat. And vegetarians... don't even think about it. I feel almost gluttonous just writing about what I ate.

Churrascaria (Plataforma) Riodizio Tribeca

www.churrascariatribeca.com
221 West Broadway
(212) 925-6969

First Course:

Bread basket - Brazilian cheese bread is absolutely delicious. Little puffs of bread with cheese inside, what could be better?

Gourmet Buffet - a plethora of appetizing cold and hot dishes, such as sun-dried tomato risotto, asparagus, sushi (apparently Brazilian people love sushi - the largest group of Japanese people outside of Japan reside in Brazil), cocktail shrimp, beans and rice, cheese, and much much more. Just a tip - try a tiny bit of everything, don't make my mistake up being 80% full after just the first course.

Main Course:

The side orders - these come with the main course and serve as a break from all the meat that you will be served. The side orders include fried potato sticks, grilled cheese (delicious - a must try), sweet plantains, rice, beans, salsa, ground yucca root (to mix with the rice and beans), broccoli and mashed potatoes.

The meat - there were probably around 15 different meats that came out. Just a sampling of what was brought out - sirloin steak, flank steak, turkey wrapped in bacon, pork tenderloin, chicken legs, duck, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, ostrich meat wrapped in bacon, roast lamb, pork sausage. At Churrascaria Riodizo, my favorite meat item that came out was by far the sirloin steak - not too well done, just the right amount of red, and a very nice barbecued flavor.

Dessert (yes, we could still eat dessert):

Desserts were served from a cart, and we picked a few to share with the table: Chocolate Mousse Cake, Flan, Napoleon, and Chocolate Mousse - all delicious, but if you could only go with one, I would choose the Flan. Flan is a very traditional Spanish dessert, and is light and custard-like, which is a great way to top off the meal.

Side notes:

If you've never been to a Brazilian Barbecue (this was my first time in the States), a server will come out with large pieces of meat on sword-like skewers and a knife to split the meat off the sword-skewer (I just made this term up). Using the tongs that you provide, you hold the sliced meat until the server cuts it off completely, and place it on your plate.

You will also be given a little coaster-like sign, placed next to your place setting. This coaster will have a red side and a green side - green means, "Give me the meat" and red means "I need to take a breather and digest."

Beverages - a nice bottle of red wine is always great to go with all the meat, but if you're in the mood for a cocktail, try the Passionfruit Caipirinha.

Overall on a scale of 1-10: 8.5 The meal was fantastic, some of the meat dishes were not as great as the others. But most points lost are based on the guilt I had afterwards of stuffing my face...

Hello! Sorry for this while without posting... It's just that I didn't find anything really interesting to post. But here I am!!! And this time to talk about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's really a very good movie, not the movie of the year, but really enjoyable. Really nice action and much fun. Cate Blanchett is really a HUGE actress. I love her. And it's already available on DVD here in Brazil. It was released on October 3rd and is scheduled to hit American stores on October 14th. I haven't bought it yet, because I'm gonna wait its price lower, but a friend of mine bought it and took some pictures. And here they are. Once again, as the Iron Man release, I think it's gonna be exactly like the American release. Please comment, tell me what you think about the blog and stuff. =) Click more to see them and don't forget to click them to enlarge!

I remember my first taste of a traditional caipirinha. Living in Miami, many of my friends were from Brazil and knew the drink well. I would see them drink it and it was only a matter of time before I began to indulge myself.

So what is a Caipirinha, anyway- besides a confusing to pronounce alcoholic beverage? A traditional one is quite simply:

muddled limes and sugar &..

2 oz cachaça

Cachaça is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane and is most known for its relation to Brazil. It is very much the alcohol of Brazil.

A restaurant by the name of Table8 in Miami (though originally from LA as seen from the photo above) offered a black cherry caipirinha- talk about deadly and delicious! Their twist of the drink involved muddled black cherries with cachaça. It definitely was a moment of: oh, how delicious, let me devour a couple and then discover upon my first attempt to move that the world will move around for me first. It is quite potent! so beware and take caution.

Gourmet offers a recipe for a passion fruit caipirinha, which calls for the traditional recipe with the addition of pure passion fruit juice. The drink is quite simple to start which allows itself very open to fruit inspired variations.

All are grand really, it is difficult to mess up. Oh how I do love my cocktails, and I must say I have been quite happy to see this beverage show up in more and more bars across the states. This is one to keep your eyes peeled for. Try it (in small doses to start perhaps, or at a slower pace if anything else) and enjoy its luxurious flavor.

Don't feel as though you have to wait for your bartenders to discover this for you first- they are simple to make at home provided you find the cachaça.

Make a traditional one and then make your own lavish concoction. Its really quite fun, invite some friends and make it an occasion to remember.

Many visitors liken São Paulo to an organism, with its cinder and cement follicles and thick avenues pumping grit, labor and oil. They call it a city of indigestion. But I disagree with that metaphor, for its notion of specificity, of traceable limits. São Paulo is more like a metaphysical trick, a cinematic trick, in which all its images are strikingly similar and unmistakably unique. Its streets branch randomly –almost absurdly— in nervous patterns, so that the routes in between images, its guiding algorithms, coalesce in my mind as dreams do.

And what are the textures of such dreams? The dusty pallor of concrete laid flat against the grey-blue-yellow sky opaque like construction paper… the murky rivers soaking up tattered metallurgical hopes, chemical memories, the heavy consciences of industry… the hues of dilapidation, rotting tiles, human mold, and the sweat of modernization: the marbled shanty skins of the outskirts… the collage of cars, their European visages and monogamous colors, under languishing traffic lights, and delivery boys on cheap Japanese motor bikes weaving through automotive fabric, buzzing like infernal wasps… the facades of bakeries, shops, and boutiques arranged as delicate elements in a composition… I remember all these images and their subtitles, air sprayed on the margins of edifices, sometimes even speaking the language of commercials.

I remember the flux of people, day laborers, executives, children selling peanuts at intersections, young girls in shopping centers, old women browsing fruit markets, football games in courtyards, tumultuous bars and restaurants, and the over-arching dissonance of sighs and voices seeking respite… it was night, cool and crisp. I saw the trail of street lights curve down a hill like an elegant glowing necklace. I remember meeting a girl whose eyes were faded green like frozen grass and vibrant yellow like the bands of a yellow jacket. Her name was Patricia, every Wednesday she walked to an evangelical church to pick up a free basket of provisions for her two parents, four brothers, two sisters and three grandparents. I remember how my ears swelled, my eyes burned and reddened, and my throat inflated like a phlegmatic balloon.

So, I’ve been putting off watching this movie for awhile. Not because I’m grossed out by trannies or anything. Because I knew how boring it would be to sit through 5 scenes of ass fucking. It gets old after a while. Especially, when I’ve seen it on set a million times. I don’t care if it’s a guy a girl or whatever. It’s still a cock going in an ass and it gets boring. Unless, they’re crying or bleeding. All of this said… here’s my review.

I would like to start with the cover. The tranny on the cover has long blonde hair and looks like Dudley Doright. She has an expression on her face like she just took a huge hit off a crack pipe while she was taking a dump. She’s wearing these terrible dangling bowtie earrings that might have been purchased from Claire’s Boutique in the 80’s. The background looks like something out of Saved By the Bell. I’m just as confused about the cover as the performers are about their gender.

The first scene involves the cover girl (Thays) and some guy with a boy short tan line. This scene was the worst in the film. The tranny couldn’t suck dick to save her life and it had to be the longest b/j scene I’ve ever witnessed. The guy barked like a sea lion, the editing was horrible, and the director (who was obviously foreign) kept talking over everything. Whenever he’d ask the tranny to do something he’d start with saying “baby”. The movie was shot in HD. Some things don’t need to be shot in HD people! Especially in porn. Picture a close up detailed view of the speed bumps on this girl’s ass.

The second scene was much better. This tranny (Anita) actually looked feminine. The premise was pretty weak. I guess she walked into what was supposed to be an auto body shop. I don’t really understand what the exchange was but she immediately began to blow the “mechanic” that she approached. I learned from this scene that the guys in this movie have to pretend that they don’t know that these women are really trannies. So, when it’s time for the tranny to take off her drawers, the guy has to act shocked and then act like it’s cool and start banging her or blowing her. I realize that this is only a movie, but come on! If you were a guy who was approached by a woman and some guy with a camera, then they spring on you that the woman who was blowing you wasn’t really a woman, wouldn’t you want to kill them? Not give some horrible “oh I’m so shocked but I might as well suck your dick” sort of reaction. The mechanic in this scene was a total butt slut. I found this somewhat entertaining.

The third scene made me want to puke. Whoever said that all Brazilian trannies are beautiful hasn’t seen this movie. Hilda was her name. If I were her, I would have been pissed at my surgeon. She looked like she had the misfortune to survive an abortion. I couldn’t watch this scene for very long. My stomach was seriously bothering me so I had to switch it to the next scene.

The first shot is of the fourth scene was of this tranny (who looks kind of attractive) and some guy making out. Everything was fine until the camera got a close up of her mouth as she began to blow the guy. She had an enormous mole next to her mouth (Again, HD!). It had to been the size of a dime. I don’t remember the rest of the scene. The mole was too disgusting.

The fifth and final scene. Holy shit! This bitch (Taina) is hot! This has to be the hottest tranny I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t’ understand a word that she and the guy were saying because they were speaking Portuguese, but I was fine with that. I would totally fuck this chick. That was pretty much all I was thinking through the entire scene. I would get out the strap on and fuck the living shit out of this girl. I have no idea what Pink Visual was thinking not putting this girl on the cover. This scene saved the rest of the movie.

The one thing that bothered me through every scene was the b/j’s. Every girl had to put her hand around the guys cock and it would freak me out. It really emphasized how large their hands were every time they’d wrap it around the guy’s penis. Their hands were so big and veiny that and it made the guys’ cocks look a lot smaller.

This has been Hollie Stevens with your Tranny Report.

2 out of 5 skull suckers

BEAUTIFUL TECHNO is a compilation album containing tracks from many different Japanese techno artists, and one Brazilian artist. (Namely, KALEIDO.) It was released on the 16th of July, 2008. The cover model artist is Kishimoto Cecil. As it's a compilation, I'm not sure of many of the inidividual artist names in the groups, so I'm sorry about that.

The album opens with a song I've reviewed at least three times on Vitamin Drop, Amai Zeitaku, by the hacky Techno-Pop artist MEG. Despite her being hacky, I still love the clean, smooth sound that Amai Zeitaku has, which was always something I missed in a lot of her later songs. Her voice is still sort of grating at times, but this is one of the songs where it sounds a bit better when put with the music. It only just missed being in my favorites for MEG's BEAM album, and would probably be up there now if I re-reviewed that album. It's a nice mid-way point between her mature dance songs (MAKE LOVE, MODEL) and her more carefree songs (HEART, PRECIOUS).

The next song is ALSO one that I've reviewed three times. This time, it's the China Discotica Substance Remix from upcoming Techno-Pop artist Aira Mitsuki. While you may be wondering why the original wasn't just put on here, I like to think it's because the album boasts a smoother sound to its songs. The Substance remix is a lot less rough than its original counterpart, and while I was never a huge fan of how the song skips parts of the original and has that annoying overtone throughout, it does fit this album very well.

We now come to the first track I haven't reviewed on this site before. Local Train, by immi. The song opens with a simple, blaring synth-line, followed by a skipping vocal section and thumping synth line, and I'm already loving it. This section is certainly infectious. Unfortunately, it quickly takes on a smoother, more connected feel, and it gets a little less interesting. This is the first song to not involve vocal distortions, and that really helps this song a lot, because it helps keep the fast, quiet nature of this song working well. I still prefer the skipping style of the opening and closing sections, but it is a nice song overall.

The compilation continues with the song Stay Fine, by Sound Around. The song has a quieter, almost natural sound to it, and the high-toned voice of the vocalist work well together, but the beginning of the song can be pretty bland. There are a few ethereal sounds throughout the verses to improve the light feeling of the song, and the vocals are perfect for the song. There's actually a somewhat Aira-ish quality to her voice, highly reminiscent of Darling Wondering Staring. There is a bit of distortion, but they could majorly pass for being vocoder-free. About 2:52 in, the song sounds as if it's rewinding, and I'm thinking this is something wrong with the mp3. So, I'll look up on that and see what I can find, as it sounds really unnatural. Sorry about that, guys.

The next song is probably the worst up to this point. The Love Me After 12AM -RAM RIDER mix-, which was an m-flo loves collaboration preformed with Alex from the CLAZZIQUAI Project, opens with a simple clanging sound, before the steady synth comes in, with Alex's vocals slowly coming to the foreground, and it all sounds alright at this stage. When Alex starts screeching though, the distortions on his voice make it almost unbearable. This is why I can't stand the chorus of this song, as that's the main focal point of it. The verses are bearable, as they don't have this horrible quailty, and I rather enjoy the dance-based synth throughout the song, but as the chorus is usually the focal point of a song, it doesn't help that they're pretty much horrid.

Sayonara Revival, by Saori@destiny, leads straight into the vocals, which sound a bit sketchy at this time, but it makes up for it with some interesting, skipping synth backing the vocals. The song sounds a lot more "in-your-face" after the songs we've heard so far, as it has a rougher overall tone, and is probably what a lot of people are used to after listening to some of the tracks Nakata has produced. The synth can be a sort of hindrance when it starts looping on itself, and it drowns the vocals out semi-regularly, which is a shame, as for the majority of the song, they're actually quite pleasant. All that aside, it's a nice song, and if you can overlook a few technical glitches in those mentioned aspects, you'll definitely get something out of it.

Next up is The Goonies 'r' Good Enough, by Sweet Vacation. The song opens with a highly technological, robotic sound to its synth, which I quite enjoy. The vocals quickly come in, and they seem to be majorly, if not entirely, in English. The high vocals suit the technological sound of the song perfectly, with just enough distortion being added to make them blend in properly. The chorus tends to sound a bit repetitive, with a high focus on the phrase "good enough" being placed, but overall, this is probably the most enjoyable song on the album so far. It's the second shortest song on the album though, clocking in at 3:38. With a title like this, I wasn't really expecting much, but it's a brilliant upbeat tune.

My Treasure, performed by www.lollipoptears.com, leads straight into a faster, dance infused sound, with some higher synth added soon after. This song is probably the most open with its happy nature so far in this album, and it's great to hear. A short talking sequence plays before the vocals, which blend perfectly with the style of music, which still carries a technological overtone. The vocals in the chorus stand out more from the music and sound more natural, while still having the distortions on them. It's the kind of song you'll want to get up and dance to, which is great to hear on this album.

Following up is the black sheep of the album, the Meu Sonho (yasutaka nakata - capsule mix), performed by KALEIDO. It's the black sheep, because it's performed in Portuguese, and the band is also from Brazil. I assume it's on here because Nakata remixed it, but anyway. The song opens with a simple, thumping beat with the vocalist ad libbing over it, and her slightly deeper voice sounds brilliant, even when it isn't singing. The slight vocals over them make them fit the simple, thinner sound of the song much better, and while it sounds odd to hear someone singing in Brasilian right after a bunch of Japanese songs, it actually manages to sound a lot more interesting than many of the previous songs because of this. There isn't much change throughout the song, and it lasts an exact six minutes, but you should be able to last through the song, as it's definitely a great addition to the album.

Back onto the natural order of things, we're given you'll be all right -re:construction-, from Iwaya Shigeru. We're back to a similar sound that Local Train had, with some robotic beeps added throughout. When it comes to its full accompaniment, it sounds more like My Treasure than anything else, or maybe the preceeding song, while still keeping the illusion that there are actual instruments throughout the song. For all I know, there could be a guitar in there. The female vocals that come in remind me A LOT of Toshiko from capsule, except for the large amount of distortions placed on her voice. The verses tend to be sort of boring, and the emotionless quality of the vocals makes the choruses sound more boring than they have to. The lack of any real changes in the song keeps it from ever picking up.

Oh, good lord, next please. Magic Colors, from Nakatsuka Takeshi, opens with some deeply distorted vocals that makes them come out in an unappealing way, and they're coupled with a carefree synth line that has an almost.. Mexican quality? I'm bad at sticking country musical styles to songs, but anyway. The vocals don't fit the song at all, and the random sounds added throughout don't help the song at all. I can't even sit through this song. Skip it, please, for your own sake.

Next up is a song that really caught my interest, mainly because of the collaboration this artist has done with Ami Suzuki. The song on this album, Sun Lights Stars (yasutaka nakata 8FM remix), is performed by RAM RIDER (He produced cover versions of his two songs SWEET DANCE and MUSIC for Ami Suzuki's DOLCE album). Back on topic, the song opens with an exploding sound and the usual simple thumping synth line, with more synth slowly added over it, with a few... Odd sounds from RAM RIDER himself, I assume, thrown in. About a minute in, this all stops, and we're treated to one long, 8-bit sound, before the synth lines are slowly added in again. The entire song has an 8-bit sound to it, especially through the vocals, as his voice is distorted to the absolute EXTREME. This makes it really hard to decipher what's actually being sung, but the overall synth arrangement with the heavy vocals make an interesting mix. It's another song that lacks any real change throughout, but I absolutely love the way this song sounds. I can see why RAM RIDER's one of the most well-known Techno artists in Japan now, despite this being a remix.

Just, by Q;indivi, comes next. It has a natural, rainforest sound to it, with a waterfall and birds, before it cuts out once or twice and leads to the simple synth line with the deeper female vocals this time. This song sounds a lot more natural compared to any other song, which is nice, but the vocals sound a bit too deep, as if they're distorted in the wrong manner for this kind of song. There's a change in the middle of the song that makes pretty much everything indistinguishable, which helps break up this somewhat awkward song somewhat, but it doesn't really help much. It's just not that interesting.

R.G.B, contributed by Spangle calli Lilli line, acts as the semi-final for this compilation album, and the song has a much more laid back sound to it, and it features a guitar and some rather odd tapping sounds. The light vocals sound like they're being sung in a strained manner, but not in an overly obtrusive way, so they sort of work. The arrangement doesn't see much change in the first minute, which in this case probably isn't very good, as it gets sort of annoying as it repeats on itself. When more sounds are added in the choruses later on in the song, it gets a bit more interesting, but overall it's not a really large contribution to the album by itself.

Dreaming rabbit, by The Sakura Telephone, closes the album. The song opens with an odd stretching synth, with the distorted vocals quickly coming in over the synth. Again, there's an almost Aira-ish quality to the vocalist's voice, and the overall arrangement is extremely similar to the song in question, Darling Wondering Staring. However, about a minute and a half in, it takes a childish, xylophone sound instead. The song follows this arrangement for most of its duration, so it's a pretty bad way to end the album.

Album Score
A-

Favorite Tracks (In Order)
1. Sun Lights Stars (yasutaka nakata 8FM remix) - RAM RIDER
2. My Treasure - www.lollipoptears.com
3. The Goonies 'r' Good Enough - Sweet Vacation
4. Meu Sonho (yasutaka nakata - capsule mix) - KALEIDO
5. Local Train - immi

A great thing to note about this album is that it includes music by artists many of us probably haven't ever heard of. As such, this is a great introduction for those of you who are new to the Techno-Pop scene, and the veterans may just find something to love in this album. I myself have discovered at least two artists to keep an eye on in this album (RAM RIDER and immi), so maybe you will too. Recommended for anyone curious about Techno-Pop.

Is it a joke? No, it isn’t but I wish it were. iPhone 3G costs RS199 in the US and it has finally arrived here in Brazil. However, it costs 1.999 in Brazilian currency, which is 5 times as expensive. Plus, you have to choose from several plans. The cheapest plan you get the more expensive the iPhone 3G will be. So, if you get the R$99 plan (the cheapest plane), you’ll have to pay R$1.999 for the iPhone, which in US dollar comes to RS1.080. Remember that it costs 199 in the US. Telephone companies blame taxes and I blame people for not standing up against those prices.

Some might say: “hey you can get cheaper iPhones from telephone companies”. Yes, you can, but then again you’ll have to stick to a plan, which will cost you nothing less than RS 545, which converting to US dollar will cost you RS 294 a month! Are you kidding me?

I don’t know what the hell are these telephone companies were thinking when they came up with that stupid idea. You know what’s worse? Millions will be buying iPhone 3G in the next few days and months and will accept with glee to be ripped off like that. Brazilians are avid for technology and they will do whatever it takes to get it, so in fact, it is a good deal for telephone companies to carry out such strategy. That’s why Brazil is always behind when it comes to technology, that is what happens in the broadband connections field, digital cameras and so on. So, I think I’ll pass iPhone 3G for now as I strongly refuse to be ripped off by telephone companies here in Brazil.

Man, October is going to be a total buzz-kill with the end of local farmer's markets and the demise of the Starbucks breakfast sandwich — probably the only thing worth going to Starbucks for. That said, you have one whole month (and a half-week) left! So, take advantage of the Logan Square Farmer's Market by picking up a panini and a lemonade from our favorite Vella Cafe, and grab a few pastries from Golden Rise Bakery. The market runs every Sunday until Oct. 26 at the southeast corner of Logan Blvd. and Milwaukee Ave, next to the historic Illinois Centennial Monument in Logan Square.

Sunday, Sept. 28 marks the first Breakfast with Lincoln Park Zoo's apes program, which could very well be as fun as a barrel of monkeys.

If you didn't get your fill of DJ's the night before or are simply looking to nurse your hangover with another drink or three, (par) Lounge is hosting their weekly Sunday Funday Brunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with full breakfast and lunch menu and pretty damn cheap drinks. $3 sangria and mimosas, $4 mojitos, and $5 bloody marys, with all the thumping music from local DJ's you can handle. (par) Lounge is located at 1415 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. For more information, call 773.252.6410.

Known more for their bar than their brunch, Sushisamba Rio offers an eclectic $15 prix-fixe Japanese-Brazilian family-style brunch ranging from the traditional pancakes, eggs benedict, and bacon, to the Brazilian black beans and rice, collard greens, farofa, and orange batidas, and Japanese entrees like tamagoyaki omelet, grilled white fish, enoki mushroom tempura, oshinko pickle, and miso soup. Brunch runs on Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sushisamba Rio is located at 504 N. Wells St. in River North. For more information, call 312.595.2300.

In case you were getting bored with their menu or simply didn't notice, New Orleans' style Big Jones just updated their brunch menu for sweet Southern brunch outings any day of the week. Big Jones is located at 5347 N.

no, i'm not done with recounting my visit to mark. (why, yes, there's more! and if you order in the next thirty minutes, you'll get a dose of melodramatic self-interested whining free! operators are standing by...) but i just got back home, and there were two thoughts that i had to write out.

the first is that i met a girl on the plane, and i got her D1giTzZ! lol, no. well, actually, yes. she asked me for the time, and we got to talking. 24-yr old dental assistant living in florida, dates bad boys. but this, friend, is not why i got her number. she's smoking hot. not in the way that girls look hot when they starve themselves and put on a lot of makeup. like, just seriously, really hot. she was brazilian (BRAZILIAN), with blond streaked hair and a beautiful face. she wasn't wearing a bit of makeup and yet she looked impossibly good. the most lovely eyes ever - blue and greenish, the kind you just stare at. perfect teeth, very white and very straight. tan, with a small tattoo behind her right ear (owie). really nice body too, definitely not model-esque (cuz models are stick people), but a nice ass and boobs and figure. an accent to die for.

we had a nice chat, commiserated about the trials of being young and single (i.e. isn't it nice to fuck guys?), and we wished each other the best of luck. she was sweet and friendly and interesting and faintly mysterious throughout. kind of had this air of, i'd say more, but we're in mixed company on this plane. i think she'd be a ton of fun to hang out with. kind of like a brazilian, floridian version of carf.

you'll forgive me if one of my first thoughts was, "i think mark would like you"?

speaking of mark, i foresee difficulties in excising him from my brain. i spent the second half of my second flight (the one without the brazilian goddess) staring at the ceiling. i was supposed to be reading great expectations, but all i could think about was mark dragging over his lap and spanking me. ooh. my pussy drooled. i thought about his cock, imagined sucking it on my knees. (which i didn't get to do this time. *pout*) my mouth drooled. i thought about the merciless way he fucks me. i bit the inside of my mouth to keep from moaning.

while i was staring at the ceiling i had time to worry about something that's been bothering me. i've assumed that mark only does stuff that he enjoys, because i don't think he has any cause not to. but the oral threw me off. i've posted before about how T2's reluctance/disgust at giving me oral made me resigned to never getting it, and worse, guilty about wanting it. so that when i saw mark go down on me my first thought was, "oh no, don't do that. it's all hairy and smelly and gross." and then his tongue reduced my brain to pudding, and this thought never made it out of my head.

mark said, a while back, that he wasn't into foreplay (unless causing the girl to give a blow job counts as foreplay. i think it does. but i'm special like that.). i naturally assumed that of the options available, oral and fingering, being messiest, would be the last things he'd want to do. so... what happened? i mean, i'm not complaining. at all. it was amazing and it's been wayy too long. but why? if he doesn't derive pleasure from it... that would make me sad.

although, if circumstances were different, i'd argue that if i can derive some pleasure from swallowing his cum, merely because i know he likes it, then he can derive pleasure from eating me out. but this isn't a discussion for NSA.

the other thing is that, long as i've been into this submission fetish - which is basically as long as i've been into sex - i still feel vaguely uneasy about asking for it. i pushed both T1 and T2 to the limit at which they could dominate me. for T1 this limit was whimpering and fragile restraints. for T2 it was faux-rape with lots of dialogue; and even that he could only do at a certain frequency before he got weirded out. mark has, much more rapidly, surpassed both of them in terms of sheer brutality, while somehow balancing it with very sweet consideration for me. it makes me breathless with how much it turns me on, and makes me ever so giddy about the potential levels of kink that this could go (provided i see him again). but i'm haunted by the fact that when i met him he said he wasn't into it at all. i don't know what to think - i doubt he'd do it if he didn't like it, but i can't help but be scared that i'm getting more out of it than he is*.

anyway. i don't think i should be worrying about this as much as i am. he has no logical reason to do anything that he doesn't want to do. and maybe it's also for personal brownie points, because there's no way he doesn't notice how everything he does drives me crazy, when he makes me scream and claw and bite, and afterwards i'm left incoherent and hyperventilating and mumbling expletives at him.

also, as a counterpoint to all of this worrying, thinking about this made me realize how really, incredibly perfect mark is as a dominant. he's never done anything that i wouldn't consent to, but he's never asked my consent in the moment of it. he just knows, from conversations or intuition or just straight-up mad skillz, how far to take it - just beyond my comfort zone, but long before i would use a safe word. not that we have one**. i don't think he knows my body as well as he knows my turn-ons, but that's expected, considering that we've seen each other at like 3-month intervals. this is what people in the bdsm community aspire to, and speak of with reverence - a dom/sub relationship that constantly pushes boundaries without undermining trust. i wonder if he feels the same way? lol, i wonder if he analyzes it as much as i do. teehee, i doubt he has the time.

it makes me hotter than you can imagine that he likes dominating me. gods, i love it that he wants to do that, even a little. why anyone would want to be the one in control is beyond me, but i love it so much that he likes it enough to do it. mmmmm... i love the way he just takes me and... (drool)

* i just realized, reading over this, that this if i were really using him for sex, this would never enter my brain. but then again, a large part of what turns me on is pleasing him, so maybe i can chalk it up to that?

** actually, when i realized that he wasn't responding to his name, and the second or third time he spanked me, it flashed through my mind that we might need to come up with a safe word, if ever we happen to have the occasion. i can take a lot of pain, but it's usually introduced a little more gradually than that.

Nu gafa in sine m-a mirat, ci natura ei.

Interesant...

PS: Gilardino e francez, daca nu stiai!!! :)

Happy Birthday Fernanda Tavares !

Honestly there isn't much information about her online (or at least that I saw with my minimal skimming.. I might have spent most of the time looking at pictures...)

She was born in Natal in Northern Brazil. On a side not Natal has always amused me because it's Christmas... literally in Portuguese it means Christmas, imaging ... "Where are you from?" I'm from a little place called Christmas, you?" Like that isn't a fun conversation waiting to happen!

Back to the birthday girl! She won an elite look of the year contest when she was 13 and soon after began her modeling career in earnest. She now models for all the major labels and struts the catwalk regularly. I found this site that said

"Although her job takes her all around the world and back, Fernanda has been with the same lucky man for the past 4 years, and when she's not striking a pose or two, she enjoys swimming, jogging and doing what all young Brazilian women do."

... first thing that came to mind was party... Brazilians are party machines!

Not where I found most of these pictures... but a lovely collection that should be checked out!
