Anyway, Drayton Manor. Good fun which lasted the whole day. There was a little asian baby that took a liking to me which resulted in him pulling me with his little tiny hands.. Fran took a liking to a different white baby who was quite small and fat.. Umm, the Pirate Ride.. We went on it 8 or 9 times. Nothing happened people.. Just forget about those rumors..

School has resumed and I'm gutted about being forced to take GCSE R.E, because it is my worst subject..

Last night Phil and Beach came over. We played Wii Fit but Phil refused to weigh himself. Dan's weight is,'ideal'. We went downstairs and watched a bit of Punjab FM for a joke and then watched a weird program called, 'Most Haunted'. Big Brother came on so we watched the final of that. When it went past 3am, I was falling asleep whilst Dan and Phil watched Jackass: The Movie. At 5am, I woke up to find that Phil and Dan had disappeared. The lights where out, the TV was off and the house was silent. I felt a bit creeped out after just watching Most Haunted, so I just ran upstairs and went to bed in my clothes lol.

11am on the same day was the time that I was woken up by a vacuum cleaner.. Later at about 3pm we went to Redditch and bought some stuff. We saw Katie Poole with another girl called Chloe Fusco. Went to Mc.Donalds and sorted something out with Tom Wads. Later we saw Miheal and some other people.

After town, I had to go swimming so we dropped Beach and Phil home. I was knackered.

Right now I think its about 1:30am so I'm just dead tired.

So.  It's been quite the week.  Or few days.  Whatever it's been.  I haven't been at home base since August 30th, so forgive the confusion.  Right about now I'd kill for some clean laundry and privacy.  The sort of privacy that exists only when you don't have to hide in the bathroom to be alone.  Also, the sort or privacy where one can be naked, happily, or write emails while peeing (yes, I do this sometimes).

Like I wrote a few days ago, we got into Glasgow just before 7am on September 2nd.  We did a quick switch from Glasgow International Airport to Glasgow Prestwick (one of those things I wish we'd looked into before) and left on what will now be remembered as The World's Shortest Flight to Belfast, Northern Ireland, around 1pm.  The hours between 700 and 1300hrs are pretty hazy.  They included all of us passing out in the very crowded departure lounge of Prestwick, all our worldly belongings left vulnerable to lucky randoms.

NB: The flight from Prestwick (which is really in Ayr, not Glasgow) to Belfast takes literally 25mins takeoff to landing.  Sweet deal.  AND they find time to serve cocktails on a 2 for 1 gin deal.  Ryanair really impressed me.

In Belfast we stayed at a nice B&B (review forthcoming) - the All Seasons on Lisburn Rd - and took a Black Cab tour, went to The Queen's University Belfast, drank some Guinness/cider as the mood struck us and started the terrible descent into E-is-a-crazy-person-and-hates-everyone.  And is an incredibly picky eater.

We got back into Prestwick yesterday, September 4th and have been driving (driving, driving, driving due to a navigational error) all over. Yesterday, the area covered included: Ayr, Maybole, Cumnock (ha!), Muirkirk, Lanark, Fallkirk (for the world's most underwhelming "famous" wheel/lock; review also forthcoming), & Stirling where we spent the night after a panic-inducing situation involving lack-of-accomodation.  Eventually we paid far too much for a room where A & I shared a double bed (too small!) and ate, quite possibly, the world's most DISGUSTING breakfast.  Boiled back bacon, anyone?

Today we jammed in Stirling Castle, Argyll Townhouse (not magnificent), the William Wallace Monument (didn't pay, just walked up), then drove to Auchterarder, stopped at Innerpeffray Library & Chapel (the apparent burial ground of my entire maternal family from 1600-present) where we harassed some sheep, then finally made it to Crieff, which I sold to A as "the hometown of Ewan McGregor!"  Luckily our B&B tonight has free wireless (IT'S LIKE HEAVEN I TELL YOU!) where we can download Gossip Girl and upload pictures and all that good stuff.

I'm feeling...very tired.  Very like I need to be alone for a week (or an hour or two).  But it's good.  Striling Castle was awesome, and tomorrow we're going to see another in Aberfeldy along with some (potentially mindblowingly dull) crystal factory while on the road up to Fort William.

Just so you know we are having fun (since this sounds complainey; trust me, good times are being had!), here's a picture of A & I with another random, costumed guy.

With Autumn almost with us and Winter around the corner, it will get a little quieter from October at Newpoint Hotel B & B. What a busy Summer it has been, for which we are very grateful, of course.

Perhaps, as things wind down a little bit, I will be able to get a chance to sit on one of the Overcliff benches and just do a bit of staring at the lovely views. People are so friendly there that I may not be alone for long as somebody will often stop for a chat.

Top priorities for Monday to Friday accommodation from after October 2008 are to provide really good discounts to people working temporarily in the Bournemouth and Poole areas on contracts and needing weekday accommodation with or without breakfast.

Similarly, people visiting Bournemouth for short breaks weekend B&B will be offered really attractive packages to encourage them to extend their stay for two nights instead of the usual one.

Oh, there is one more  priority. I am looking forward to getting the chance to chat more with my guests. It's been so busy over the August rush that chatting has been slightly limited.

Newpoint Hotel is a family business and very much my life and chatting to my guests is one of my pleasures.

Back to the blog: o humor do mundo mudou ontem de novo e aqui no Brasil só se fala da crise. Lamentavelmente, tal falatório acontece fora de hora e pelas razões erradas. Acontece que a mídia (local e internacional), como de hábito, só reage, i.e. só fala em crise, quando as bolsas de valores - sempre elas - derretem. Newpoint Hotel B&B

Mary Guise, die Mutter von Mary Queen of Scots regierte 1560 von hier aus stellvertretend für Ihre Tochter Schottland und rund ein Jahrhundert später diente Leith - wahrscheinlich eher unfreiwillig - als Hauptquartier für Oliver Cromwells Truppen. Von deren mächtigen Befestigungen der Leith Citadel ist heute nur ein Torbogen übriggeblieben.

Mein persönliches Interesse an Leith basiert auf einer weit profaneren Tatsache: unsere erste Adresse für Übernachtungen in Edinburgh nach dem Ende von Finlays Guest House ist nun 12 Derby Street in Leith, ein schönes viktorianisches Steinhaus in einer ruhigen Nebenstrasse der Newhaven Road bei Marigold und Donald Monro.

Relaxed and informal heisst es im Internet auf der Website von About Scotland und das trifft es in der Tat ziemlich genau. Bei unserem ersten Besuch waren wir froh, dass wir die ausführliche Beschreibung inkl. Stadtplanausschnitten in verschiedenen Maßstäben von Mrs. Monro per Post zugeschickt bekommen hatten, denn in den ersten paar Stunden nach Ankunft kämpft man schließlich noch genug mit dem Linksverkehr. Da ist eine vernünftige Wegbeschreibung Goldes wert, denn, eine solche vorausgesetzt, ist der Weg vom Flughafen Edinburgh Turnhouse aus nicht sehr schwer zu finden: Richtung Forth Road Bridge, dann am großen Kreisverkehr vor der Brücke rechts ab auf die A90, nach ein paar Meilen auf die A902, dort auf dem Weg durch die Stadtteile hartnäckig bleiben und schon ist man in Leith angelangt. Schließlich noch zwei Querstraßen und voila: Derby Street. Jetzt heisst es nur noch einen Parkplatz finden. Wenn man pünktlich zur vereinbarten Uhrzeit ankommt, wartet Donald meistens schon und man kann sich eines freundlichen Empfangs gewiss sein. Nachdem das Gepäck auf den Zimmern verstaut ist, folgt die obligatorische Tasse Tee mit Keksen im familiären Esszimmer und so akklimatisiert man sich schnell und das Gespräch kommt auf die Anreise, die geplanten Aktivitäten, ein Pub für's Abendessen oder auf Fragen zur Umgebung. Und schon sind wir mitten in Phase drei: zahlreiche Landkarten werden von Donald auf dem Esstisch ausgebreitet und es werden Pläne geschmiedet. Man kommt sich vor wie im Feldherrenlager und fühlt sich plötzlich an das Gemälde im Treppenhaus erinnert, das Colonel Monro in seiner Uniform auf dem Schlachtfeld zeigt.

Da wir Lust auf Fisch hatten, empfahlen und die Monros das The Peacocks Feather, und tatsächlich war das Fish & Chips in Beer Batter sehr gut und die Atmosphäre des geschäftigen und recht verwinkelten Restaurants angenehm.

Das Dachzimmer ist zwar bedingt durch die Schräge nicht gerade ein Platzwunder, aber es ist gemütlich und wenn man seinen Kopf durch das Dachfenster hinausstreckt, hat man einen Ausblick bis hinunter aufs Meer. Nachts oder bei Nebel hört man im Bett liegend das beruhigende Horn der Forth Bridge. Morgens hat man dann das typische Erlebnis eines schottischen B&B: man freut sich auf die warme Dusche, weil das Bad dank Frühnebel noch kalt und klamm ist und man kämpft mit dem typischen Mira-Plastikdurchlauferhitzer, um sich nicht zu verbrühen oder zu erfrieren.

Das Frühstück war so, wie ein gutes Full Breakfast sein sollte: Cereals und Orange Juice als Starter, dann Tomaten, Speck, Würstchen, gebackene Bohnen und Pilze, dazu Toast und Marmelade soviel das Herz beghert. Mit anderen Worten - der nächste Zeitpunkt für ein Hungergefühl ist nicht vor dem frühen Nachmittag zu erwarten. Auf Wunsch gibt es auch noch gebackenen Blackpudding, aber das ist wohl nicht unbedingt jedermanns Sache um diese Uhrzeit, wenn auch sehr lecker. Nebenbei wird das Programm des letzten und das des kommenden Tages besprochen und schnell kommt man vom Hölchen aufs Stöcken und vom Stöckchen...

Für den folgenden Abend hatten wir Karten für das Edinburgh Military Tattoo, eine gigantische Militärparade, anlässlich des 50. Thronjubiläums von Königin Elisabeth II. noch etwas gigantischer und mit Teilnehmern aus aller Welt. Die Veranstaltung begann um 22:30 Uhr, doch schon über eine Stunde vorher warteten hunderte von Menschen unterhalb der Scott-Statue auf der Royal Mile. Ein gutes Dutzend Polizisten sorgte für ein geregeltes Abfließen der Menschenmasse aus der Abendvorstellung und ein ebenso geregeltes Zufließen der Menschenmasse der Nachtvorstellung, zu der wir uns zählen durften. Pünktlich sassen wir auf der riesigen Tribüne auf der Esplanade des Castle.

Das Finale bestitt der Lonely Piper oben auf einer Mauer des Castle mit dem Skye Boat Song, gespenstisch angestrahlt in der nebligen Dunkelheit. Dann wurde uns unsere Ruhe zum Verhängnis: gemächlich schlenderten wir The Mound hinunter, die Strasse von der Royal Mile hinunter zur Princess Street, die einst auf dem Bauschutt der New Town errichtet wurde. Der Plan war, einen der Nachbusse zu erwischen, von denen wir einige unten gerade abfahren sahen oder alternativ in der Hanover Street bzw. am St. Andrew Square ein Taxi zu nehmen. Aber um das Drama abzukürzen: nach einer geschlagenen Stunde mussten wir feststellen, dass erstens die Nachbusse alle bereits weg waren und zweitens die Taxizentrale nicht daran dachte, noch Fahrzeuge zu den zahlreichen noch hier Wartenden zu schicken. Bei den einzigen freien Taxis, die gelegentlich zu sehen waren, hatten die Fahrer ihre Taxischilder bereits ausgeschaltet und befanden sich damit wohl auf dem Heimweg. Auch wildes Gestikulieren und Winken ließ diese Burschen kalt und so machten wir uns auf den Fußweg und ich einmal mehr froh, zufällig noch die Stadtplankopie von Mrs. Monro in meiner Tasche zu haben. Schätzungsweise fünf Meilen dürften es durch unbekannte Strassen und wenig einladende Industriegebiete gewesen sein, bevor wir völlig erschöpft gegen drei Uhr in der Derby Street ankamen und uns leise ins Haus schlichen. Um das Frühstück und den nächsten Tag nicht zu verschlafen, verabredeten wir uns trotzdem für acht Uhr am großen Esstisch.

Wenn man Marigold eine Email schickt, so sollte man übrigens bedenken, dass es in 12 Derby Street keinen Computer gibt, sondern die Emails schließlich aus Fred, dem Faxgerät der Familie herauspurzeln. Für Außenstehende sieht das ziemlich kompliziert aus, aber Marigold ist gut im Programmieren von Fred und bisher hat die Kommunikation per Email immer reibungslos funktioniert.

Ante tal panorama, lo normal es que cuando llegas a casa, no tengas ganas de nada, más que de tirarte en el sofá y cenar algo tranquilamente mientras intentas ver, por ejemplo esta noche, el Episodio III de Star Wars (cosa harto díficil porque lo dan en Antena 3 y acabará mañana por la mañana).

El sofá de hoy me ha gustado por sus formas suaves, redondeadas y envolventes, como si nos estuviese invitando a tirarnos en él, es decir, un sofá que no solamente crea un confort físico, sino también visual y psicológico, y a veces este tipo de confort es incluso más plancentero.

Se trata del sofá Super Soft que diseñaron los italiano Paolo Lucidi y Luca Pevere para la empresa Calligaris. Se presenta también la versión en sillón y destaca la combinación de colores en el tapizado exterior e interior.

Para terminar, viendo el color de esta última foto y con la forma del sofá, diria que los diseñadores Lucidi/Pevere se inspiraron en un clásico del diseño como es el sofá Le Bambole diseñado en 1972 por el gran Mario Bellini para B&B.

Oggi lavoro... entro alle 13,45... ma la scorta di felicità accumulata ultimamente mi farà sorridere senza sosta fino alle 20,00! Forse qualcuno dei colleghi penserà che sono impazzito? Kenai and BB, way back at 10 wks old

I had a post ready to go up yesterday but couldn't get online. I would have put it up today except we had another run to the emergency vet with BB. Little brother is vomiting and straining to poop again. They gave him a shot for nausea, and gave us a bottle of laxative in case he is merely a little too constipated. If he vomits again, back we go for x-rays to see if he's obstructed. Nobody wants to crack that belly for a 3rd time, so let's hope he gets a good old case of diarrhea. Get some die-in-the-rears love!

The moment BB started the second bout of barfing, Kenai lost it. He knows that means a trip to the vet like last time. He ran upstairs and tried to hide under my pillows. I wasn't about to leave him, and he would have gone wild if I had, so into the car the four of us went. Big Brown hid in the corner with his head on BB's tail, and his shoulders on me.

Even coming home, I don't think he believed we were actually going home. He whined and tried repeatedly to climb into the front seat to sit on Mom's lap. When we did get home, he was too restless to go to bed, so I got to sit up all night instead of half of it. The BB watching vigil once more, poor fellas.

This pic is an old one, some 24 weeks ago. But it's the quintessential Brothers Grin photo: Kenai stands guard while BB checks out what big bro shows him is cool to sniff. As long as the two were together at the vet (or anywhere else), BB is brave. He's got a 115 pound security blanket.

When I took Kenai out of the exam room to settle him down, BB lost his courage and cried until we came back. That's the Brother's Grin. As much as they torment each other, seperation is unbearable. If BB keeps this up, Kenai will need tranquilizers!

I ordered a new used camera since the bill to repair my old one would be 3 times the cost of a new one. Seems nothing gets repaired anymore--it's always buy a new one. Still, I couldn't imagine the boy's blogs without pictures. How blah would that be? We've missed weeks 33 and 34, but we'll pic back up (ha, bad pun) at 35 weeks.

Sometimes wordpress drives me crazy. They got the picture thing fixed, but now I can't cut and paste from Word documents. How many people do they think never will cut and paste from Word? Hello! I don't always sit down and write an entire post in one fell swoop, and I don't always have access to the internet when I'm writing. Grrr to wordpress.

Kenai and I went out on Tuesday, and it was a long outing. Four hours is just about more than my body's fuel tanks can support. But I had to get some special bloodwork done for a doctor's visit Wednesday, at a special lab. And Friday we hit the road again.

The idea was to just take BB out for the morning. My niece was to be in the house: he's backsliding on tolerating her calmly the past couple weeks. Bet he's as tired of the chronic grind as we are. As much as I love my niece, I've gotten to where I don't even want to see her. It's awful, but there it is. Mom's got the same problem. There's only 6 1/2 weeks before October 15, when Mike has to be entirely out of the house.

Kenai did need the practice Friday, though. Twice a week isn't as good as 4 times a week, but it's better than one, right? He's gone everywhere I usually do, which is good for his style of learning. Some dogs are very operant, meaning their focus is on the handler's commands in any given environment.

Kenai is a particularly associative learner, meaning he associates what he does with the environment. Nearly all the Danes I've had are associative rather than operant. There are exceptions, but generally, I believe Great Danes are not highly operant as a breed.

Take Kenai to a familiar place, and he will repeat the behaviors he's done in the past there. Pretty much all dogs learn by association, though an operant dog will more easily change their routine activities at a given location if the handler asks them to. That's not my toffee tush. Mess with his routine, and he's not a happy camper: he doesn't like not knowing what he's supposed to do before I ask.

Having over 300 hours of public practice under his vest already, he knows the drill for every place I go. He doesn't always want to do it, puppy bad hair days happen. But he knows. The only place I've avoided is Wal-mart. The Department of Justice is investigating them for a nation wide pattern of denying access to service dog teams. When I am confident enough in Kenai's obedience to walk in and hardly pay attention to him, then I take on Wal-mart.

One place I am going to be spending alot of time in that we haven't been to much is college. So I stopped there Friday, and paid a call on the folks at disability services. I wanted them to know well ahead of spring semester that I'll have a giant brown butt taking up space in their building! They're cool people, having had SD teams before. They loved him on sight, the softies.

I also wanted to let them know that I plan to come once or twice a week from now on. The idea is to allow Kenai plenty of opportunity to associate school with long down stays, and ignoring people who don't ignore him. We'll hit the open computer labs, gathering spots, empty classrooms, AND teach him to actually come into the toilet stall far enough for me to shut the darn door.

For some reason, he has decided that even the big stalls are not good places to be. Not a clue why that came to be, but I doubt he has any idea that his in a girlie place, so it can't be his manly pride. Lesson number 40 million and one learned: SD boy number 2 will find his tiny toddle self in public bathrooms at the decrepit age of 9 weeks.

Just 6 1/2 more weeks, and we get to return to our lives. Is there a fast forward button?

Tingle: As my super-original-and-always-good-for-a-laugh post descriptor thing foretold, this moveset makes me sad. I'm a huge Tingle fan, and would really like to see him as a playable character in some future Smash Bros. game, but this moveset, put simply, does not do justice to the character.

The most obvious problem are the too-short descriptions of almost all the moves in the set. "Aerial kick" can mean so many, many things. Though I do really want to know more about this mysterious "culatazo"...

And more importantly, Tingle doesn't sound anything like a contender. His recovery is essentially just a multi-jump, and his Down Special is nothing but a shield...that breaks after three hits. His Final Smash is a blatant rip-off, though a weaker one (there are, after all, only three Tingle Brothers, as compared to the infinite number of Waddle Dee/Doos/Gordos). What's even more unfortunate is that everything outside of the actual moves is incredibly fitting to the character, and frankly: super cool.

• Fitting to Character: Below average. There are a number of moves that are quite Tingle-worthy, but the majority are just too undefined to be considered. 4/10
• Balance: It's not that Tingle lacks KO moves, or is overly weak/strong...but I can't tell what's going on with the moves, so I can't reasonably say how balanced the moveset is. Seriously. His Up Smash reads "Butt". Nothing else. Just "Butt". 3/10
• Originality: For obvious reasons. 3/10
• Appearance: AND BBCODE COMIN' IN FOR THE SAVE! The whole article is short, sweet, and concise. The great formatting and layout compliment it perfectly. 8/10
• FINAL = 18/40

Saat jalan-jalan bersama teman-teman saya di Tunjungan Plaza kemarin, kita sempat singgah di Hobby Station. Wah, ternyata di sana ada beberapa produk yang baru datang, terutama beberapa seri Gundam BB. Beberapa teman saya yang hobi mengoleksi model kit langsung mempertimbangkan untuk membelinya. 6 giorni... mai sono stato tanto senza scrivere nel mio blog e senza girovagare in quello degli amici... Ho solo trascorso pochi e frettolosi minuti in "bruno60", giusto x rispondere agli affezionati che hanno lasciato commenti. The high school bible study on 2nd & 4th ________ nights of the week will be entering a topical series called "Burning Issues." The series is based upon several articles by Relevant Magazine, where a panel of today's Christian movers and shakers such as Brian McLaren, N.T. Wright, Nancy Ortberg, and others tackled the tough topics that have arisen in our current culture. The bible study will begin by looking at specific biblical passages that shape the ethical responsibility of followers of Jesus. Currently the Bord Fáilte approval for Bed and Breakfasts in Ireland is a voluntary process and costs proprietors in the region of €200 annually for the shamrock sign which signifies Bord Fáilte approval. It is argued that compulsory licensing would increase consumer confidence in Bed and Breakfasts and would ultimately award higher quality properties and penalise those of a lower quality.

“Up to 5,000 unapproved B&Bs are currently allowed to operate without any health and safety standards, undermining over 2,600 registered B&Bs who pay to be inspected. In all other sectors of accommodation in Ireland you must register and be graded for quality and standards – so why not in B&Bs?” - Kate Burns

The B&B sector in Ireland is estimated at contributing €300 million to the economy annually. This suggested licensing comes with the explosion of low cost hotel accommodation in Ireland alongside the competition from unregistered B&Bs. Tourism revenue dropped during 2008 for the first time in 4 years. This drop combined with the oversupply in hotel rooms has created further difficulty for Bed and Breakfasts in Ireland.

"After a decade of strong growth, the tourism industry is now falling victim to the global economic downturn and an unfavorably strong Euro, leaving a "mismatch" between supply and demand for hotel accommodation that will exacerbate problems for the wider economy, the author of the research report" - Rossa White
